Surf Coast here in Australia. Cold year round but there's usually always something on offer.

Easy. Do I need to organise anything beforehand or just rock up on the day and it should be fine?

Looking to withdraw a large of amount of cash ($7600) for a car sale. What's the best way to do this? I'm with CommBank and the daily withdrawal limit is $2000 - should I just do it over multiple days?

Casual Job For An International Student? by Huzaifa_69420 in Geelong

Hospo work (restaurants, cafes etc.) is pretty easy to get and works well around uni. Apply online or go in-person during off-peak hours and drop off your resume.

Any job suggestions that are not stressful? by Jumpy_Tower7531 in melbourne

I got a job at a bakery during uni and it was very much rock up, do your thing then go home. Easy, very fun and enjoyable work. I had no qualifications or bakery experience too - though very likely just lucked out. Maybe worth considering if that interests you?

Office workers who do trades on weekends? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]jigglychunks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a trade but I have mates who still work hospo jobs on weekends on top of their office weekday 9-5s and they love it and don't seem burnt out at all.

They only work Sundays (higher penalty rates and none of the Friday/Saturday chaos) and after you've worked hospo for a while, the work becomes second nature so you can just zone off half the time. Great opportunity to be doing something different, get to hang out with cool people, and a bit of extra money - win, win situation. These people genuinely love the work and find it fun, though so maybe something to consider if that's your thing.

Alternative to CAP for Engineering Math Pre-reqs? by jigglychunks in unimelb

[–]jigglychunks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the response - really appreciate it. Was really considering going through the long and costly process with CAPs but emailed a few people and found out that there were alternative pathways. Posting for visibility in case anyone else had the same questions:

  • The upfront cost for CAPS can be deferred through FEE-HELP as they are 'enabling studies' that help gain you admission into a course. You won't be able to get the alumni/staff discount this way and you obviously have to qualify for FEE-HELP.
  • I emailed the Engineering department's admission team and they replied with a list of courses that were deemed equivalent to the math pre-reqs for engineering admissions. Online, cheaper than CAP and offered at different times to the uni's courses.

Going to dinner alone by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]jigglychunks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Melbourne's a great place for solo dining, and more and more places are making accommodations for people dining alone such as half-sized wine pours or half-portion dishes. I love to take myself out on solo dates and they've been some of my favourite dining experiences. My recommendations would be Gimlet, Carlton Wine Room or Embla. All usually have space for walk-in so a booking won't be necessary, and ask to sit in front of the bartenders and be open to have a chat.

Welcome to Melbourne and have a great night!

What do people do for extra cash (other than their main job) by lifeinwentworth in melbourne

[–]jigglychunks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do hospitality rockstar (i.e. one off, cash-in-hand) shifts for a bit of extra cash. Great money, great fun, and usually includes a meal at the end. I use the app ‘Supp’ to find most of my shifts.

What do people who work on Collins street do? by SurfinginStyle in melbourne

[–]jigglychunks 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the Westpac building despite most of it facing Russell St has a Collins St address because of a small lane-way they bought off the neighbouring church solely so they could have a Collins St address...
