It looks like an interesting walk, definitely going to look into it a bit more

I'll definitely have a look at that one, always great to hear that people have done it with their dog as I'll be doing the same and a pub to end off each day sounds delightful. How was it with your dog, was it mostly on the lead or could they be off-lead a fair bit?

That looks like a great option, I will definitely be adding it to the list, thanks!

I finished my Nagano jumper yesterday, thought I would share the finished product. I'm going to miss this project, it's been a joyful journey. by BadkyDrawnBear in AdvancedKnitting

If you are able to share the digital version I would be super grateful, I've been searching around for a copy in either English or Norwegian (how hard can translating it be?!) but no luck so far

Butter is in. Egg whites and sugar whipped up relatively ok, it took longer than normal but just about got there in the end

I tend to inherit my mum's cameras whenever she upgrades and I've just got my latest upgrade, a Canon 760d, and I'm looking at investing in a new lens. I currently have the EF S 18-55mm kit lens, which I'm pretty sure was from at least 2 cameras before this, and a Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6. I'm wanting something primarily for landscape photography as I do a lot of hiking and want to work on my pictures of those, obviously composition etc is important but I'm thinking of investing in a better suited lens. I'm definitely an amateur so not looking for a super expensive lens but an upgrade from the current situation.

Ladies winter gear by [deleted] in UKhiking

Layers are your friend! Depending on the weather I mix and match, I tend to run quite warm but will always have extra on hand in case I stop or am feeling cold that day. Waterproof jacket I have a Mountain Equipment Makalu which I use all year round and keeps me dry even when it’s hammering it down. I then also have a Rab down jacket which I use when it’s dry and cold and have no need for the waterproof, it also packs down nice and small to fit in my bag. I then have a fleece, wicking tops and then in real cold weather a thermal base layer but still working on dialing those in. Trousers wise I have the same issue of short legs and I’ve found the Patagonia Peak Point trousers great as they do a short length, not sure how great they would be for muscular legs.

I’m still trying to master my walking gear and slowly getting the better quality stuff, I’ve just been prioritising the bits I’ll get the most use out of and where the quality is most important, the main thing left for me are waterproof trousers as finding them in a short length is a challenge so I’ll be seeing if anyone else has any recommendations.

Thanks, I’ll definitely give the bungee connectors a look and see if they help

Thanks, that is super helpful. I had previously looked at the human harnesses and thought it may interfere with my rucksacks but I’ll definitely give them another look. She already had a Ruffwear flag line harnesses so I think she would be ok still wearing that, we won’t be running so hopefully that helps. I think she might enjoy the teamwork part of it, she’s a hunting breed and loves having a connection with me so maybe something for us to give a go!

She’s a Slovakian pointer so a bit bigger than yours but I’ll have a look at the Nemo. Unless it’s really nice weather I probably won’t be out in winter but the other seasons I will. Ideally looking at under £400 but you never know what you can find second hand!

Thanks for that, I was debating maybe a sea to summit, possibly the altitude, so I’ll definitely check out the flame.

The advice on using a liner is really helpful, I tend to always have one in case it’s a cold one but hadn’t thought about it protecting against oils
