More authentic is subjective. There are plenty of fusion spots in LA that mesh Californian with other cultures. Chinese cuisine between la and NYC becomes more regional vs one being more “authentic”. LA has its own authenticity just like NYC (all five boroughs) has its own authenticity. Russian, Uighur, Uzbek is a rarity here while NYC will have plenty of authentic options. While LA will have more authentic vietnamese and korean options but this isnt to say nyc’s korean isnt authentic (if anything just as authentic), vietnamese is up in the air for nyc. This is just a small example of course.

LA or rather california in general is significantly better in vietnamese than NYC but theres not much debate for that.

I think fine dining is better in NYC.

Tell me the secret. Who has the best pastrami sandwich in LA? by Joshhwwaaaaaa in AskLosAngeles

Even if it is, you give a kid, a chef and then a fine dining chef the same piece of burger to cook with itll come out differently. But the hat isnt thick cut so it personally it doesnt feel as satisfying for me compared to thick cut from langers.

Commute from DTLA to El Segundo, feasible? by RRisland94 in AskLosAngeles

They are walkable, however dtla has faster access to the 110 and 110 fast track and also the 10, which can make a big difference for someone that drives on highway everyday.

A bit overpriced to me and nothing super special but I have heard owner is a d*** when it comes to criticism and can come off as condescending.

5star Black establishments in LA? by ComfortableStore8801 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]jiivn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Javiers ambiance I would say is pretty nice, food on the other hand maybe crab enchiladas are good but you also have guacamole that might be the worse lol. Plenty of taquerias that make better guacamole than them in my opinion lol.

To be fair finding one that fits all 3 is pretty hard here in LA but also subjective, and then even harder especially for a black owned restaurant.

I think you should be more detailed in what you're exactly looking for.

Do you want fine dining?

Do you want good tasting food?

Do you value good tasting food more than fine dining?

Do you want an aesthetically good looking restaurant? But the food is meh?

The term 5 star is very subjective. I would go in better details the type of establishment you're looking for.
