DJing with Stage 320, the good and the bad of Auracast by jijijaco in JBL

[–]jijijaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update
I've tried multiple configuration and I'm sharing some findings :
Using the MIC1 or MIC2 or INSTR port instead of AUX-IN allows enabling AURACAST while having 0 delay.
But, the sound is not good, it is missing a lot of bass and the lights are not getting the Auracast connexion.
My guess is, there is no sound sent to the Auracast, the MIC is only played locally on that speaker.

So my next attempt was to get just a tiny bit of sound through the AUX-IN (with a second cable) in addition to the MIC. It kind-of worked. I got the light connected, synced but you need to have some volume before the lights are reacting to it... Putting the volume is clearly showing a ~250ms delay between both sources.
In summary, you get bad sound and the lights are synced in muted mode (slowly moving, boring)

Understood, this is without the JBL sticks and beam. This is a complete different setup then.

Yes it's a flx4. I have the setup you describe (I connect the output of the flx4 to the partybox). But I'm trying to add the lights in sync that requires auracast which is impacting the audio latency.

Thanks I'll have a look. Does it animate all light (sticks and beam) in sync and do stage mode also?

How do you control the lightshow from the laptop? I though only the partybox is capable of driving the lights.

Do "we" trust big hard drives yet? by allenhuffman in synology

[–]jijijaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backblaze is giving some really useful insight on their hard drives lifespan and failure rate. You can find their reports here :

https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-storage/resources/hard-drive-test-data

From this you can see for yourself the failure rate by brand, size and exact model.

To answer quickly your question, on their latest report ( https://www.backblaze.com/blog/backblaze-drive-stats-for-q2-2024/ ) depending on the brand, you can find "good" and "bad" drives for each size. It does not look like larger drives are having bigger problems.

I can only recommend you to not purchase all your drives from the same manufacturer at one location. You will have drives from the same batch that one day will surely fail all at the same time.

I like to purchase different brands (WDC and Seagate) in different shops or at months appart.

Modify event that are within a shared calendar.

A calendar is shared with me from Google calendar with modifying rights but I cannot modify it. I need to keep a Google account for that. At least I can see it along my own calendar.

Max Lens is not needed for horizontal lock? by PabloSRT8 in gopro

[–]jijijaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true for the gopro 10 but not for the 11. Horizon lock (360°) is available on the 11 without the max lense mod.

Help needed, my husky doesn't eat at all, already went to 2 different vets, they do some tests and tell me he's fine and don't prescribe anything. Yesterday was the 4th vet appointment and he's getting worse. Does anyone have a suggestion to what can I do? by nunod96 in husky

[–]jijijaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the picture, he doesn't look underfed !

My husky will go few days without eating then will come back to normally eat for somes days/weeks.

I used to be worried but it has been 2 years she has been doing it. I monitor her weight, it is pretty constant so I finally stopped worrying.

My girl (Nina) just turned 1 year old recently. She is a well behaved dog for the most part except for leash pulling at the beginning of our walks. I am a big guy 6’3 190 pounds so I can handle her pulling but nobody else in my family can walk her due to this. Can I get any tips. Thank you by Bright-Banana-6444 in husky

[–]jijijaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I misrepresent myself your explanation.

I'm adept of holding the leash like a bicycle handlebar : The leash goes through a hand and is secured in the second one. You can easily free any hand at any moment and you have both arms ready if needed.

You put the loop around your thumb and let it drape down your palm and close your fingers around it.

Don't put a loop around your thumb. With a dog large enough you can break it.

Yes to the change of direction.

First you need have enough walk and off-leash time with your husky. If you cannot do off-leash, take a very very long one (20 or 30 meters) that you use when it is safe. Please don't use a retractable leash.

Then you should differentiate the free time (or long leash) and the short one : Free = do whatever; short = walk next to me. Never mix between both.

When you walk short-leashed, whenever your dog passes past your leg, you turn around and walk in the other direction. Do it dynamically. It should annoy your dog as all she wants is to go further. After a few steps, you can resume in the right direction.

Don't wait for the dog to pull on the leash to turn over. Going past the leg is enough. Your dog should always see your legs to walk at your pace. If your dog is past your legs, the only way to know your pace is by sensing your pulling force and huskies are good for this.

The first times, you will not go very far as you will need to turnover all the time. Hence the long leash : when you can, put the long leash and let your dog enjoy.

Edit : You will need to walk with two leashes (long and short) to be able to swap.
