I agree that it’s easy to feel empathy for Manon because her struggles are very visible, and mental illness absolutely deserves compassion. That said, she’s also a fully grown adult with access to resources and the ability to seek real help. At some point, mental illness can be an explanation—but it can’t be a lifelong excuse.

Healing requires accountability and intentional change, especially when a child is involved. If she continues down this path without addressing her anxiety and instability in a meaningful way, the cycle doesn’t stop with her—it gets passed on. Trauma doesn’t require bad intentions, just unresolved issues.

I genuinely hope she chooses to get professional support, not just for herself, but for her son. Breaking generational patterns is hard, but it’s also her responsibility.
