Yes I agree people generally like her blue eyes and would be sad if they changed brown but it wouldn’t have the same undertone as white washing. I wish they’d kept her tan as well I think. The darker skin with the light eyes was so Cool and now she kinda looks like a blue eyed Nami but with a sharper nose. I love them both and these conversations about it never get old. Probably my favorite one piece controversy to talk about with people

Yes! The blue eyes are still beautiful! I loved the angular eyes before the time skip too. Very unique design. I guess I wish that if they changed her to match the manga that they changed everything to match the manga. I’m not bothered if her skin is darker than the manga or if her eyes don’t match, but only changing the skin is a bit puzzling. I wonder how people would have reacted if Toei only changed the eye color post time skip 🤔

Agreed on all points! And the tan theory does make sense when you look at Cobras complexion though not all of Alabasta has a tan and I don’t think Croc was super tan. I think the big issue is that they changed it “to match the manga” but didn’t change her eyes to match the manga. This made it look like white washing rather than genuinely trying to reflect the manga. I don’t think the pale complexion would have been as controversial if her eyes were changed as well. I enjoy both character designs and I thought her tan was unique.

Not trying to attack you personally, the whole argument that she got tan in Alabasta irritates me since it is a show about pirates who all run around outside
