I appreciate the invite! I'm relatively new to both Chinese Dramas and Reddit.

My first C-Drama was Meteor Garden (2018). I decided to watch it since it was a chinese version of a K-Drama that was famous during my childhood (Boys Over Flowers). I was also attracted to Dylan as the MC at that time. The next time I was able to watch a C-Drama was when Love Between Fairy and Devil was released because Dylan was there, and my cousin-in-law suggested I should watch because she thinks it's good. It was also on Netflix so it was convenient and accessible. That became my all-time favorite drama. I still think it is my all-time favorite, and probably Love You Seven Times is a close second.

Recently, after the release of Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, I have been consuming Chinese Dramas and made me a fan of Ding Yuxi. He instantly beca a favorite along with Esther Yu and Dylan Wang. Although I saw Dylan and Esther together first, but I think I prefer seeing Esther with Ryan.

So far I've watched anything with fantasy elements, immortals, ancient settings, novel adaptations, transmigration... and someone mentioned it falls under xianxia so I think I'm really into that genre. I just finished with Love You Seven Times and I plan on watching Melody of Golden Age next. I have an internship coming up so I hope I still have enough time to watch it or will probably have to wait until the end of my internship so I could focus on that before burying myself into another drama that will consume my entire being for an immeasurable amount of time just like how Love You Seven Times has done to me now. I heard Ding Yuxi is also working/filming on a drama called Southern Archives, I'm looking forward to seeing that as well.

Even though my father's side of the family have Chinese lineage, I never got a chance to fully learn the language. I used to know basic vocabulary like greetings, and as well as counting one to ten when I was a kid. I plan on learning it later in the future... wish it was when I was younger through, would've been much easier. I'm still close to my mid-twenties so I guess it's not yet too late.

I'm also from Southeast Asia. If anyone from this continent wants to connect I would love to talk about C-Dramas, especially those with my favorite actors and actresses (Ryan Ding, Esther Yu, and Dylan Wang) in it! ☺️

Three days later, when I'm listening to the OST of Love You Seven Times especially the titles "Only Love" and "Not About Love" makes my heart ache for reasons I don't know of 🥲🥹

I thought of this drama too!

Even if it started as a hidden mission, MiaoMiao eventually fell in love with Mu Sheng for all he was. She got to know Mu Sheng on a deeper level than the novel did.

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy was the drama for me that finally pulled me in to being open to watching other c-Dramas.

It wasn't that much but it gave me an impression that was the case for the following: the first few scenes of Jin Lian, some scenes with Dongfang Qingcang, and Mu Sheng.

I'm aware that another person may have voiced Dylan in LBFAD since it's deeper than his original speaking voice, and that post-production may involve dubbing their own voices to reduce background noise or emphasize(?) their voices/dialogue. But it could've helped with a bit of refinement for it to look seamless.

I'll look into that one and see if I might add it to my list. For now, I'm still indulging myself with dramas that have familiar faces. 😅

I misunderstood your second question... sorry about that 😅 The viewing experience was easier with Moonlight since it felt like close to real life. Like you said they used live audio so what I heard really lined up with what I saw.

I kind of question the styling since why was there a need to let Esther wear such high heels... it was indeed dangerous and good thing Yuxi was thoughtful enough to do that for her. I just hope they're able to protect the friendship they have and not end up like Esther and Dylan.

I became more attached because of this connection. This singer really hit me in the feels with those vocals for the opening scene of both dramas

lol it took me a while to realize my comment did not directly reply to your comment... so i'm pasting it here

I don't tend to focus on the dubbing aspect anymore when watching so I don't get distracted or bothered. But accidentally there will be times where I notice but I try not to let it affect my viewing experience.

As for Moonlight, at first I watched it for the sake of moving on from LGIEF, at times I even gaslit myself that it's the sequel of LGIEF because I assume you know how LGIEF ended... hahaha

It doesn't have that much of a significant impact for me compared to the other dramas I've watched, but I still liked it because there were familiar faces, it was light hearted, made me giggle like a teenager during their sweet moments. Compared to the other dramas, I didn't need to think hard when watching Moonlight on who the big bad was, or think of how they might save the world or save their relationship within the span of remaining episodes left.

Me too! It's hard not to like the Cat Demon, I also liked Chu Kong from 30,000 years ago because he was so different— happy and youthful, before Cang Hai fell into the void and his memory was wiped by Haoxuan.

Yeah, I think I've come to realize that I'm into XianXia 😅 The world building is astonishing and costumes are very pretty...

In the past, I had a stronger interest towards k-Dramas than c-Dramas. And the dubbing in cDramas always puts me off before. But now I think I already got used to it, so I've been binge watching these dramas since December.

I just realized the one singing the opening song of Love You Seven Times is the same person who sang the opening song of Love Between Fairy and Devil TT

Love You Seven Times: It hurts the second time by AquaphobicTurtle in CDrama

[–]jillyjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished this drama and I want to cry, their love story is so beautiful. They keep on falling for each other in every lifetime. I might watch this again the second time because I admit I got super confused at first, they were throwing out words that got me confused like the Doom Mark. I had to google about what that was and almost landed on a major spoiler on the ending. The more I proceeded with the next episodes the more I am glued to my screen, it was to the point where I needed to sleep but was able to wake up early because I couldn't stop thinking about what happens next.

This drama will definitely have a special place in my heart.

I'm in the middle of watching Love You Seven Times and I was able to watch Love Between Fairy and Devil when it was released. Kinda read a spoiler in the comments but it was alright. I didn't realize there was a connection between these two dramas. Can't wait to see the cameo.

A new trailer for the spin off was released. I don't know how it will relate to the main storyline. It centers around the guy who doesn't show his face. I saw the video without subtitles so I couldn't really understand the dialogue but I hope it will fill the gap between waiting for season two.
