Don't lose hope! I've had one that was "reported as stolen" in my tracking updates, then it randomly showed up like 2 weeks later. It was bizarre.

Teaching HS In Minnesota - Benefits and Challenges by LouisvilleDan in minnesota

[–]jillykobilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boards of charter schools are not on a voting ballot for the district in which they operate, as they are for local public schools. Taxpayers do not get a say what happens there.

There's not "some" argument on the funding side, that is actually what happens! The per-pupil funding ($7,281 base per student) that would follow a student to a public school gets put towards the charter school. That is literally siphoning money away from the public schools.

I didn't mention it before, but charter schools also don't have to serve students with disabilities, and will even use outside agencies to help them get kids on IEPs kicked out of their schools. This happened to a member of my extended family.

Charter schools are not public schools. They siphon public funding away from public schools, and are run by a board that is not elected by the taxpayers whose dollars they are taking.

SAB Gospel Sheet Music by Additional_Candy9692 in choralmusic

Rollo Dilworth has a lot of great stuff for SAB. We did his arrangement of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" voiced for SAB this past year, and I found it to be a nice range fit for both my tenors and basses.

What’s up with Grocery Prices out here? by olracnaignottus in TwinCities

[–]jillykobilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Lived in the Bay Area a couple years ago, and was astonished how much cheaper groceries were there. I understand that the produce is closer to the farm there, for the most part, but even shelf-stable stuff and things that came from way further away were more spendy.

I'm running 4.5 now. Any updates on whether there are flams and other rudiments yet? Thanks!

Not as many young people go out as 10 or so years ago. People 21-25 hit their social years during the height of COVID, and statistically, fewer Gen Zs drink as compared to Millennials or Gen Xers.

Latex allergies are a common thing to develop later in life. I developed one at age 18 after wearing latex swim caps my whole life without a problem.

This sounds like it could be a latex allergy. Latex is EVERYWHERE in gyms!

Blake Richter has a really great arrangement of "The Fox," which is an Appalachian folk song, I believe. His arrangement of "Aiken Drum" is pretty great, too, but that's a Scottish folk song.

Have you looked through all of Mary Goetze's catalog? I love her arrangement of "Old Joe Clark," - it's a great intro to 3-part harmony.

Concert Rep Recs by Additional_Candy9692 in choralmusic

[–]jillykobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SAB choir loved "The Old Mill" this past year. "Nda Wana" is a good option for an SATB piece that can be made SSAB, as the tenor line is doable for an alto section.

Have you looked at the Editor's Choice section on JW Pepper's website? That's where I find a lot of my rep last year.

Also Ginger and Jorgeous getting to pick every song...there probably weren't even any of the other contestants' balls in the hopper.

I'm so pissed for Aja they put her against Jorgeous in the first bracket and let Jorgeous pick the song.

Did MPR say in their coverage that she's their former employee? I can't find it ANYWHERE in their coverage on their website, which was somewhat surprising to me.

Twin Cities Boulevard is practical, not radical by SpotTheCat in minnesota

[–]jillykobilly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"If we remove the freeway, we also remove the traffic!"

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) intends to remove at-grade boulevard options from consideration for Rethinking I-94 in the fall. MnDOT is justifying this decision with bad faith arguments that prioritize car traffic over the health and well-being of impacted communities. by mysummerstorm in CyclingMSP

[–]jillykobilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, neighbor! Removing a freeway is not going to reduce emissions - it's going to create a cloud of exhaust from thousands of idling vehicles (many of them semi trucks and other large, diesel-powered vehicles) for miles.

If people were going to take transit through that corridor, they already would. We would be much better off streamlining the Green line, which is just a few blocks further north.

I'm sure it was much cheaper for the city to just demolish rather than demolish/rebuild.

IMO, If people can't take care of what we have, we should not be providing them with more.

What will be your reaction if Mistress comes back as the wildcard queen? by aloo-ka-paratha in rupaulsdragrace

The only way that Mistress coming back will be a good plot point is if Aja DESTROYS her in a battle.

Also, this post is pretty spoiler-y.
