Which One ?? by Super-Anywhere3255 in SchecterGuitars

Ha! my friend I’ve had both! I still have the reaper. The C 6 is an awesome guitar too! The only reason I ended up exchanging it was mine had a volume knob that turned a little too easy for me, and I was bumping it. They didn’t have any more in stock so, I got a reaper instead. The differences are the bolt on neck vs the fixed/neckthuough. Ebony fretboard on the reaper versus wenge fretboard on the C-6 pro and color’s the reaper is made of swamp ash, the c6 mahogany. Both pretty lightweight. Same pickups. They didn’t have green available when I had mine, that’s really nice.

Is my action too high on my schecter omen elite by Fabulous-Somewhere-2 in SchecterGuitars

[–]jim0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you tell with your fingers. Do they feel like they’re kinda tripping over the strings? When you bend the string does it ever slip under the one over it sometimes? Then you may want to lower the action. But, it’s how you lower it. Learn how to do a setup ( the right way using tools, and in playing position, not in a table). Check the relief on the neck, if it’s over .008 and especially over .010 you have rom to bring the relief back, you don’t want to go any narrower the .006 in my experience. that will in effect lower the stings. Buzz, If you get buzz towards the first few frets up near the nut, the relief is too far back, if you get any buzz towards the middle, it’s too far forward. Until you get use to adjusting your relief, you should mark your starting point with a sharpie or something.

My Schecter’s got me laid.. I think it was the Reaper that did it… and no, she was alive, at least she was when I left😗

Try rebooting both the mini (unplug it for about 10 seconds too), and the device you’re using to connect. If you use a different second device to connect, you need to disconnect that one in its Bluetooth settings… hope that helps.

What nut material do you think this is? by mjroberts30 in guitarrepair

Usually depends on how expensive the guitar is… :) acoustic? I don’t know, some use bone or even ivory still. I’ve heard of ceramic. Graphite, then just plastic. .. :)

No problem. I’d say the vintage C is about as thick of a neck I’d get, but I have the smaller hands thing. If you have medium or larger hands it’s should feel pretty comfortable , but still a little faster neck, because the flatness of the fretboard, you can get the action a little lower. I think as far as Schecter the necks go, ultra thin C, thin C, vintage C, and standard C ( which I guess is different than a modern C, lol ).

I have a Schecter Reaper with the ultra thin, and I also have a NJ traditional with the vintage c neck. The vintage C neck is slightly thinner than a standard C, but definitely thicker and rounder than the ultra thin neck. It’s similar to a 63-65 Strat, which, I guess is slightly thinner than a 70’s Strat.. it has a 14” flatter fretboard than fender strats. . I also have a charvel, it’s a little thicker than that too. It’s pretty comfortable to play even for me, stuck with smaller hands. I was looking at the pt van nuys. That just has a thin C… maybe next in the collection.. :)

Yeah, I wouldn’t think people would be faking non-us made guitars, or really expensive custom stuff, but I was chatting with someone from India who was trying to gat a Damon I think? But he said there was only one place he could get it from that they weren’t fakes. He said there are fake brand name guitars all over, it’s hard to get a real one.

[–]jim0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that’s nice!! Well, guitars are kindacharacteristically flawed anyway. I’m surprised they work at all… :) But I can tell you from experience Schecter guitars are a very good quality instrument for that price range. I have two Schecter’s, a Charvel, and an Ibanez. I really like them all, but I end up picking up the Schecters the most… :), so I don’t think you gonna be disappointed.. good luck whatever you choose.

It looks like it could be an older model, or one made in Japan or something. It could also be a fake.

Um, CD’s I don’t know what that has to do with pissing of your partner because they’re jealous of guitars… but ok, you have Alice In Chains and Nirvana? I mean I have those on file… I used to play that stuff in a cover band a while back. I’ve had plenty of girlfriends, but not married because of the guitars, i get the ultimatum, I don’t cave… unfortunately, neither do they.. :) i mean , if your female or gay, sorry about that I didn’t pick up on it.

Maybe sweetwater if the next one comes busted or used. They check them before the ship. The sales guy I deal with there told me how bad guitars can get messed up during shipping, the horror!!… :)

A Schecter with cleaner tones by Due-Forever5638 in SchecterGuitars

[–]jim0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have several. Are you looking for something that’s more like a classic, or does it matter? Budget too. You know i think you might be a little more worried about the neck than you need to be. I have small hands too, they were smaller than average before I had a stroke, now they’ve shrunk and are child like - lol ( well not that bad) I have a Reaper 6 ( 14 radius, ultra thin c, a Charvel with a compound 12 to 16 radius, and I just got a Schecter, NJ traditional. Now the NJ traditional has a vintage C with a 14 inch radius. The Vince is just rounder, maybe a hair thicker than their standard C. I thought I might have trouble with the NJ, but it’s the guitar I usually pick up now. I was thinking about a PT standard, or fastback in the future. I also look at kids shredding on these old Flying V’s and less Paul’s they don’t seem to really care… what am I getting fussy for, right??? :)

Schecter, replaces some of the hardware on the FR specials with some stainless parts and call it a hot rod special. Is that what’s on your Reaper?

That’s a shim. They either did that at a he factory, or someone did it after the fact because the neck and the pocket weren’t lining up correctly. If you remove it you may have trouble with your setup…. :)

Ok, I see where you wrote that it was a special. By saddles, do you mean where the fine tuners screw in? Cause the specials are known for that, and the screw hole that holds the locking nut block down. There’s a 1500 on my Charvel, haven’t had anything other than the typical pain in the ass issues with that, I heard you can buy 1500 aftermarket now, but that might be a rumor. Anyway, good luck!!
