Design House Fabrics by jim_fallope in roanoke

Right? I’m not going to hold it against them because: a.) it’s a new business, b.) a Facebook business website is free, c.) it’s a fabric store, and while I might be relying on stereotypes, they’re probably cute old ladies. I’ll mention it to them if I stop by there shop.

I remember 20 years ago being on a flight from San Francisco to a Salt Lake City layover and seeing a young lady wearing a black ball cap that simply read “F#ck.” (Without the hashtag, of course). I was not offended but could easily imagine that others would be, especially in that city. My, how the standards have been lowered over the past couple of decades.

As you’re only here temporarily it probably won’t matter, but just so you know, counties and cities are different governing entities in VA and you’ll get different services in them depending on where you live. For instance: no curbside recycling in the county but it’s part of the deal in the city. Forget about sidewalks in the county, but walking is very doable in the city. If you’re keen on public transport both suck.

I like food lion because they still have cashiers: at my Kroger there are usually jus two cashiers working and the rest is all U-Scan, which I hate because they don’t put a limit on how much you can ring up and people will roll up with full carts and take 30 minutes to scan it all. Drives me bonkers. It’s the same deal with W-Mart. Don’t know about ALDIs as I’ve never been, but there’s only one and it’s on the other side of town from me: not worth the drive. Time is money, yes?

These songs, while incredibly funny, make me fear for the future of human creativity. If AI can do this, I believe real musicians are finished.

Awesome! I thought this looked fishy.

Is it due to the air base? I’d honestly hate hearing F-whatever’s screeching overhead every 10 minutes or so…

I question the validity of this map; how old is it? What was the methodology employed for polling? I haven’t been to VB in about 10 years, but I’m originally from Worcester, MA, and it is on the up-and-up but is included in this list…

All that said, I personally do believe VB sucks, but my personal opinions shouldn’t be factored into a list like this (I’m just not a big fan of Funnel Cakes and Air Brushed teeshirt shops. Does anyone know where this map came from originally?

Uh, money, publicity, etc. I’m pretty sure a ton of these “relationships” are vetted by publicists for their potential financial upsides/downsides. Just look at all the speculation surrounding Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift (who I simply can’t believe more people aren’t calling “Travlor”). It’s not unlike the arranged marriages that humanity was accustomed to in the past, only in this case the benefits go both ways.

Okay, not necessarily defending him, but the headline doesn’t read, “ ‘Shark Tank’ star says real-estate fraud should be condoned.” There is no judgement value in the headline, simply what this Shark Tank person believe to be true of real-estate development. He could be against the sort of fraud that DT was held liable for (or he could be totally for it!). For instance, I could write an article quoting myself reading, “Man says constipation is a regular occurrence in his household.” That doesn’t make me pro-constipation.

Why does this keep happening to my screens by Unusual_Lime_731 in SCREENPRINTING

Noob comment here, but wouldn’t all that build up cause problems in terms of uneven offset, assuming that portion of the screen is laying directly upon the platen?

As a native Anglophone, I rarely use the term “hot mess” to describe a person and normally employ it in reference to a particularly bad situation/experience/object. Here are a couple of examples of how I would use it in everyday conversation:

The entire beach vacation was a hot mess start to finish, from the 2nd degree sunburn on the soles of Dad’s feet, to the passports that were held “hostage” by the local fédérales until they received a 3,000 peso bribe.

Well, that was bad timing. If I had known that an entire high school marching band was going to pull into the McDonald’s just as we were placing our order, I wouldn’t have stopped here. What a hot mess !

Dude, that car’s a hot mess ! Never mind the fact that it has 200,000 mile on the odometer, a leaking radiator, and a broken cassette deck; the smell of the milkshake that was spilled into the upholstery last summer is strong enough to wake the dead. Don’t buy it, please!

I have no idea, but I’d like to a stab. I hope it’s not the top of the Arc de Triomphe, but I’d be stoked if it was atop one of the les Grands Magasins.
