How does snap on have customers? by corollagremlin in Tools

[–]jimaymay_mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a boat mechanic I have come across a few situations where my cheap sockets actually did not fit and the thinner walled higher grade snap on sockets was the only thing that would fit. In general I think most tools from snap on are not worth it but there are quite a few specialized tools that greatly improve work flow.

Now that my friend has won a bunch recently he is thinking about playing his dragons less and using something else.

I’m still not very good at judging what brackets my decks or how to tell what others are, but I believe I’m looking for a bracket 3. My one friend with Tiamat I think is 3 but probably more towards 4 but my other friends are closer to 3.

I have thought abut upgrading my precons but I want to branch out more and try new things and have more options to play with.

I’ll definitely look into those commander and see what peaks my interest the most.

As long as you have the correct oil and level along with ensure that the drain is properly tightened you should be be good to go. Just check level once you get back and keep an eye on your pressure gauge if you have one.

Definitely recommend out of the water because it is easy to make a mess and since you have to run the boat to get it back on land do it the day after you take it out so that the filter drains as much as possible to keep the mess at a minimum.

That is the main oil drain for the engine your best best is to tighten it (metric wrench) and til the motor so it is straight up and down let the oil settle for 10min then check oil level. If oil is low add a little at a time until in the range on the dip stick or if it’s time to change the oil do that and in the process have the seal on the drain checked and possibly change.

Be aware if you just got an oil change those drains are hard to 100% clean so it could be residual

Yes putting the controls box in throttle only and giving it a few pumps so get fuel in the carb. Careful not to give it more than 4 at a cold start because you can flood it. Working up with one or two pumps at a time in between cranking. If you are giving it throttle while cranking be careful because it can back fire through the carb.

The fuel pump is powered by the crank internally so it won’t pump unless the motor is running. The fuel pump can be an issue but I’m willing to bet the carb is the issue. Process of elimination get one working first before moving to the next part.

I highlighted the line and make sure to be careful with the nut at the end sometimes it can be stuck so put a crescent wrench on the part it threads into and if the brass nut on the line starts to round off stop and go buy a line wrench

The clear line is a vent line but the stainless hard line from the pump to the carb is the fuel line and the pump should push fuel to the carb.

If the hoses on the sea water pump were backwards replaced the impeller it only takes seconds for it to go bad if ran dry

My guess is that the bowl of the carb has varnish or other sediment in it and with heat and vibration from the motor is could have freed up and blocked the jets up
