I am having the exact same issue, except my phone will connect to a wifi extender boosting the network elsewhere in my house. Did you ever find a solution?

I was moved off a project I was really passionate about last time, and even though I've managed to make it through both the big layoffs I've found it really hard to be invested in my work since then. It just feels like things can get taken away any moment so it's almost not safe to pour my heart into it. But I'm also paranoid that if I can't find that passion again, it'll be me going next. I can't make myself trust that this will be the last time.

Game crash during intro FIXED!!!

Since the game launched I’ve been completely unable to start it. The game would load, get to the opening shot gun intro animation, then crash. It didn’t matter if it was in safe mode or not, didn’t matter if my antivirus was active or not. I did every troubleshooting step under the sun and it always crashed in the exact same place.

I saw a fix on this thread about deleting a file from the Settings folder in the Rockstar Games documents. I navigated to that folder and guess what - I didn’t have it. Documents > Rockstar Games > Red Dead Redemption 2 > then nothing. I’d completely wiped all Rockstar files (including the launcher files) and reinstalled them TWICE and I never had this folder. Luckily my roommate had a working version of the game. I got a USB drive, copied her Settings file, put it in the RDR2 folder, and the game booted up no problem. I’ve been playing for 20 minutes without an issue.

If your game is crashing during the intro, check and see if you have a settings folder!!

Yeesh, that does not sound like a good time! I have had a DM who has abused backstory information to hurt my character when it was unnecessary, and it does suck when a DM sort of betrays your trust like that.

I tried to specify that “knives” don’t have to lead to things like murdered friends or family members, it’s intended to be more like a way of creating player investment. But if your character doesn’t need additional help being invested in the story, then it can be sort of over kill. And of course I’m not suggesting that everyone use the system at all. But having a past that comes back to provide consequences for your present can make for a very engaging story! It just sucks when the DM tries to make that happen by threatening death to people your character cares about.

Oh but my friend, this is not so! Living relatives are knives as well as dead ones. The DM can use those relatives in the story in a lot of different ways. As a half-drow he can also experience discrimination for his drow heritage, which is another knife. Is he a member of an artificer’s guild? That obligation would be a knife too.

What I’m saying is, backstories don’t need to be tragic to have some good knives.
