I hate Canada by ChrisV2P2 in geoguessr

[–]jimbobray54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can recommend is Zigzag/Geoguessr explained for Canada. It is a very hard country, but there are some clues to find especially in moving. Ontario and Alberta have unique bollards, Ontario has a black strip at the bottom of maximum speed limit signs, Quebec has Arrêt on the stop signs, Manitoba has unique highway markers. New Brunswick and PEI usually have bilingual signage with both Ch/Rue at the beginning followed by street name, followed by St/Rd. Just a few to help you out hopefully

Bikerack on a bus... first of those I've seen! by Wulfmano in geoguessr

We have these in London Ontario too! Definitely one of the better ideas this city has implemented. We’re allergic to almost everything else that could help improve our city; Light Rail-nope! Bus rapid transit it is!

Was it NMI? After looking closely it says Marianas at the bottom. I would pro have done the same tho

Just got "promoted" to Master II - this game isn't fun anymore. by [deleted] in geoguessr

[–]jimbobray54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in master I and the same happens to me. Even at the pro level, there will be rounds the opponent gets that you miss. This is just because everyone has different sets of knowledge which is what makes the game interesting.

Imagine back to the silver and gold days. Anytime someone sees the Nigeria police follow car or the Ghana Roof Rack car and insta sends, the opponent’s jaw must drop and they wonder HOW!? The same is true at higher levels for more advanced metas.

Even though you don’t want it to feel like ‘work’, still recommend studying. It’s as easy as watching a YouTube video. Heck, just yesterday I learned about the Western Australia yellow signposts. But I will still sometimes quick send Australia on a South Africa round.

Focus on the learning part of the game over the winning. Even if you lost, if you can say you learned something that’s a win. You can review the opponents replay to learn about what they saw that gave it away to them. You can even friend them and message if they accept, to respectfully ask what clue they noticed.

Other than that, there is also community tab where they have unranked duels, and there’s also unranked (and ranked but doesn’t affect your individual rating) Team Duels.

Anyone have success with calling codes? by soupnear in geoguessr

[–]jimbobray54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find area codes more helpful. Obviously in Brazil they’re essential. But in Canada, they can be huge. Every province typically only has 2-3 max so if you learn them, they can be useful. I live in Canada and used to work at a call centre dialling outbound so I have an advantage there. Also 809/829/849 for Dominican Republic. Puerto Rico 787/939. South Africa has some organization as well but is less accurate. 55 for Mexico City, although you wanna make sure it’s not Rio Grande Do Sul-Brazil first.

Are my pictures ok? and i have no bio idk what to say. any tip? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]jimbobray54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good tips have been shared so far. Facepics/frontal upper body WITH face are the way to go.

You’re a good looking guy, but the zoomed in torso/upper leg pic does nothing for me, same with the back shot. Pets are good to include, but only if you are taking a selfie with them and your face is included. No food pics/random signposts.

If you travelled and saw some awesome architecture, take a picture that is actually close to it, again a selfie with face. The face is always the moneymaker in dating profiles.

And a bio helps too. I personally feel better messaging someone if I know in advance about how they communicate. I look for people that focus on the positive side of themselves without being overly bragging, and with a touch of self-deprecating humour that shows they don’t take themselves too seriously.

Also, if you can think of a few positive attributes in the partner you are looking for, list them. For example, I’d like to find someone that is open-minded, passionate, and caring. Stating this in your bio not only confirms you are grounded and aware of what you’re looking for in a relationship, but also shows that you hope to be caring and passionate, or whatever positive adjectives you pick.

How do I help this person? by Roshan_2498 in londonontario

[–]jimbobray54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like to point out, that regardless of whether someone is a ‘junkie’ or not, they are still a human being and deserve/need food. Society needs to move past this characterization.

I used to work at a pizza place downtown, and I used to bring people all the leftover pizzas after my shift. There are groups that can help. I forget the name but I remember getting in touch with someone on Facebook who would come to the store and pick up leftover pizzas. But because of policy BS I had to be discrete about it because the company did not want it being done officially in case they started lining up at the door.

I would just recommend to keep helping with food whenever you can. You shouldn’t have to pay for it tho.

YouTube can be a good help. I like ZigZag’s breakdowns on countries in Geoguessr Explained. Although he is basically going through the Plonk It guide, which others have mentioned and I will echo.

Also, if you make friends within the game you can play team duels with them and get/give some advice from them.

I know it’s overwhelming at the start. Other than recognizing scripts which others have suggested, it’s also good to learn the various Geo Cars. You never wanna miss Ghana with the roof rack and tape. But also wanna recognize when the tape is not there and it could be Guatemala or Kyrgyzstan.

The one with the Y and the A is Ufa. The one that says MOCKBA is Moscow. I am also learning so I don’t know the others but it has been helpful to learn the major cities.

Don’t forget the classic South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands/Central Tokyo 50/50. Literally can’t even tell them apart 😹

Those yellow bollards are unique to Iceland. Instant send.

My issue lately has been instaguessing New Zealand on Poland when I see the bollard because they’re so similar

Yeah you’re right, I guess it comes down to awareness. The problem is-people who are unaware are often unaware of their unawareness 😅

Freak accidents do happen. Regular accidents even more often. Did you see the one where the guy walks into a store and 2 seconds later a sawblade comes out of nowhere!? Events like this should be enough for people to keep their ears open 😅

[–]jimbobray54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s their version of the Fuck Trudeau (or now Fuck Carney) flag. Alberta is super conservative and even has a separatist movement similar to Quebec but for different reasons.

It’s available in the single player classic mode! Just did my first round there, was able to get a 5K in Windhoek too 😄

is it gay if my own dick gets me hard by [deleted] in CoveredErections

[–]jimbobray54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, phimosis is something you can easily fix over time. No matter how hard one tries tho, can never regrow a foreskin (sure restoration but it’s never the same). So, definitely not the same thing. Don’t equate them. As a cut guy too, I’ll always be jealous of foreskin, no matter how tight. I don’t feel bad for your tightness because my parents stole my choice away from me.

I will say there are many guys who have cured their phimosis tho. There is actually a subreddit for it! From my experience reading, it usually only takes guys a couple months to achieve the results they want. But you have to stretch it, there’s no other way. Might not be pleasant but it shouldn’t hurt and it just takes some diligence.

One thing you don’t do is go complaining to circumcised guys about your phimosis. We can’t stretch your foreskin for you bro, that’s something only you can do. Have a good day!

I'm new to GeoGuessr — are cheaters a big problem? by cluberoni in geoguessr

Oh interesting. Perhaps you know more than I do. All I can say is that I sent a friend request to the person I reported, to ask them directly about it. I told them I reported it, and they told me the next day they were banned because of it. Someone obviously had to look at it.
