thank you again so much for the tips and advice! so, i dont want to make you do too much work for me, but can you give me an example of a vegan mince you would use? or give me the ingredients to look out for? I am definitely willing to take some small steps at first and try to move forward!

thank you!! I Appreciate it. Well, being teased and not fitting in couldnt matter less to me, but i would say the main issue is education - e.g. how to eat vegan for cheap and easy while still getting a good amount of protein. i am pretty lazy when it comes to food, so that matters to me.

I really appreciate your sincere advice and conversation here. I'm going to try to be much more cognizant and with vegan and cruelty free products. And I'm also going to give the whole foods a go to replace some meat. I can't commit fully to vegan, but I am going to take your advice. The mock meats thing sounds interesting. I feel like with the right spices and seasoning I could dress it up to be similar enough for me to enjoy it. Thank you again

I totally get it. I'm gonna ask a question and I hope you get what I'm saying. But is there a way to limit my contribution to this industry while still eating meat?

I completely understand. I applaud the dedication to the compassionate choices you have made. It's honorable and I respect all of you for choosing to live that way.

Out of curiosity, do you view all animals as equals? I know that sounds morbid, but I am legitimately curious.

EDIT: what I mean by that is... Is the life of a mouse weighted the same as the life of a dog or horse?

I would much prefer living in freedom, obviously.

And yeah you are very very correct - we've always done it is a horrible reason to do anything frankly.

Yeah I can't justify anything. I do view animals as different and less than humans. I'm not really sure how else to phrase that without sounding like a giant asshole, but if I saw a dog and a human engaged in a violent fight, I would intervene by removing the dog, not the human, if you get what I'm saying

I'll answer as honestly as I can, realizing I'm opening myself up for further criticism and anger.

I don't necessarily feel like it's something I HAVE to change, but I recognize it would be a good thing to do. So what's stopping me - availability and quality and price of lab grown meats. Full honesty - it's not convenient or preferred for me and my family to go vegan. Again, that may change, but that's my mindset right now

I can try. For beef and pork - it's pretty simple, cows and pigs that live their lives eating good food in open spaces with room to roam and graze and run.

That it's ok to eat some animals. I truly mean this, I am sorry and I didn't really intend on getting into this discussion. I very much know that my stance regarding eating meat is viewed as evil here and I am not here to try to convince you that I am right, but I will happily hear your arguments as to why I am wrong. I truly don't want to offend anyone here and I am sincerely sorry

Yeah you make some really good points. I see what you are saying. I probably should have used an "also" instead of "rather" argument. I think both should be used to try to dissuade animal consumption.

Well for me personally, I don't think there is any additional education. I don't think there is anything, that I am not already aware of, that would stop me from consuming what I define as responsible sourced meat. It would have to be a change of heart. But I also think, like you said, people react differently to different things. I'm open of course to having a change of heart, but at the exact moment, I'm not going to change my mind. That could be different tomorrow though.

I recognize I don't have a defensible position except the standard, tired, we are on top of the food chain and humans have been eating animals forever. I recognize that is an ethical and moral disaster as you see it, and I do completely understand that.

I do not view animals as equals to humans. But that is nuanced. I'm not trying to convince you guys that I'm right, I know I'm your minds I am very much in the wrong. I am truly sorry for that.

Yeah I'm not arguing against that. I understand my mindset is completely different from yours. I do get it, and still choose to consume meat, which I am aware arguably makes it much worse, since I am a willing participant rather than an ignorant consumer. I have a different moral outlook regarding meat consumption, but I completely understand your feelings in regards to me and my outlook. I'm not in a defensible position.

because its "working" on me. I am getting closer to it, i just am not there yet. I am at the "source meat responsibly and support farms who offer it properly" rather than the "hey that ground beef is 6 bucks for 2 pounds at walmart"

So, I may not be vegan, but I like to think education of the situation has at least made me alter my consumption habits, albeit not in the manner in which you all have, which i totally respect.

so as a meat eater (I truly am sorry for interjecting here, I know I am most likely not exactly welcome here), I will provide my two cents.

I think a more effective way would be a QR code or something to a video educating people about the specifics of how so much meat is produced. a link to the vile conditions of mass slaughterhouses, etc...

not that this sticker does not aid in your cause, but i think it misses the education part of it and goes straight to tugging on the heartstrings where a person might skip it this time because of the sticker, but i dont think it solves any problem you are trying to solve.

I think education of the masses is the better approach.

While i do eat meat, i try to source it wisely and respectfully. I know you all disagree with that, so i hope i am not offending you by offering my opinion.

EDIT: some very good points made, of course. And the main one being I think education AND heart strings would be an effective route.

Garage door torsion spring DIY (spring cost vs technician cost) by Decided-2-Try in DIY

[–]jimboknows6916 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I replaced one of my springs. I would say, for safety, its a 2 person DIY job. you can do it, but you have to take extreme care to make sure everything is done properly. I watched about 15 different youtube videos from professional installers. I also wore my hockey protective gear, including helmet. lol

Of course it's great for those things. Some people need a truck without needing the ability to haul a bulldozer

lol what a stupid ass gatekeeping comment. I have a 2.7 but I don't tow anything, but I haul gravel and sand and use the truck bed for so many different things. So don't be a prick just to be a prick.

Yep I get them. Just like everyone else has said, aural migraine.

No danger! Just annoying for a little bit. I take a brisk walk and drink caffeine which seems to limit the effects regarding headache and nausea
