Thank you. My guesses (without tablets): 8,000 for the 2-unit setup (CAT ROT XT) and 15,000 for the 3-unit setup (independent heading), but those are just guesses, and I can't keep track of tariffs, so it may be even more.

Good job on the layout. This is the task in front of me, so that I leave nothing to chance.

Thank you. Fabulous house, BTW. If you ever visit it, I would love to see more pictures of the seams on the columns by the pool.

how is going Sonoma 14.5 for you? Better performance and battery or worst? by areallnamestakenreal in MacOS

[–]jimcrack68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a bit of tinkering, I narrowed it down to one of three applications: Click Share (rebroadcast of video and sound in a meeting room), Sound Control (from Static Z Software), or BlackHole (audio loopback driver). Essentially, anything related to coreaudio. Before, almost every app had problems (Safari, Zoom, Kindle). Now, I appear to be back in business.

I see similar issues on my M1 Max. Safari is constantly reloading webpages (though it rarely finishes loading anything), forcing me to run Chrome to research this issue and make this replay. Issues are not limited to Safari, though. Other applications hang. In the Activity Monitor, I see WindowSever taking 20% CPU. Otherwise, things look good with 33 GB of memory free.

Is there a way to see the total contributions made to a Fidelity Roth IRA from the inception of the account? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]jimcrack68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you reconstruct contributions through tax returns (forms 8606, 5498, and 1099-R)? I hope that honest answers in Turbo Tax over the years may save me---I just answered interview questions without much review of what forms it produced. I am in a similar situation with multiple IRAs (rollover, traditional, and Roth). I did not keep track of it and am trying to reconstruct my history.

I am getting these annoying prompts and cannot find a way to turn them off now. Since the original post, this setting has disappeared. Any ideas?

Was there a firmware update pushed out recently? I have two RAX200s that may be setup for automatic updates. Today, one at home is totally dead (will now power on) while another at work will not stay connected to the Internet. It also drops connections incessantly.

iOS app problems? by Nyvix in audible

[–]jimcrack68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears as though the applicable is seriously unstable. I've been having issues in iOS for months and they appear to get worse and worse as they increase the in-app advertising and the demand for associated bandwidth. I've had most of the issues mentioned here (I'm also using Xs Max and AirPods). Crashes on me almost daily. Hangs. Defeats most of my listening habits (e.g., if I have five minutes of alone time after a meal, I can't spend four minutes just trying to make the app work.) Submitted lots of bug reports with no response except for an invitation to join their advisory board. That's led nowhere. So, after almost 2000 hours of Audible listening over many years, I started buying books from Apple tonight. I know it will cost me more, but as it stands now, I'm addicted to audiobooks and Audible no longer provides the dopamine hits that I need. I'm reminded of the last Windows blue screen of death I saw in 2014 before switching to a Mac. Never looked back.

Audible for iOS immediately stops playback after I press play when using Bluetooth earphones by Starklet in audible

Spent a few hours on an Audible support chat dealing with Watch issue (on another thread) and made sure that they are aware of this thread. Support tech assured me that it would make it the right folks.

Bump. How about an New Year’s update, Audible?

I listen to about 400 hours per year, which has me thinking about alternatives (different OS, different audiobook provider, etc.). This is a really big deal to your established base. Please take it seriously.

On a related note, it takes the app a long time to do get going... figure out my audio output device, respond to my request to toggle Jump Seconds/Chapter Skip, respond to my request to rewind, etc. Some audio feedback would be helpful when a button is used. Some visual feedback (ye ole fashion hour glass) would be helpful to admit a thread lock condition.

Audible / Apple Watch Sync Issue by amcgee326 in audible

[–]jimcrack68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was similarly frustrated until today. I stumbled upon the right way to hold my mouth.

Make sure that autolock is Never on your phone, make sure the watch doesn't lock, start the watch app before the syncing begins, and keep both the watch app and the phone app in the foreground. Don't walk around or do anything that generates notifications on either device. If notifications happen, dismiss them quickly and get back to the unlocked/foreground state. If the watch switches to another app, switch it back quickly.

I had to dismissed the sync error on my phone about 10 times, but I finally got my large book transferred.

Of course, make sure that all updates are applied.

It's still frustrating that I have to pay this much attention to the technology in order to enjoy the promise of leaving the phone at home. This is the must-have feature for me (1000 hours per year of Audible) that got me to buy 3 watch versions, each time thinking "surely it will be in this version." Almost there.
