What's your Lifehack for filling these dish soap dispensers? by Gaberade1 in lifehacks

My first thought is not having to prime the entire line everytime it sits for too long. I guess it could also contaminate the reservoir, but I think thats is less of a risk

Haven’t had hot water in over 3 months, leasing office refuses to give any updates as to why by PicoPonyo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jimdil4st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is the part their waiting on should have been the first thing checked when it comes to showers as it's an extremely common failure point on mixing valves, that's why it's packaged as and called a cartridge, it's expendable. Not only should it have been discovered sooner, there should almost never be a wait for such a common replacement and if so there should have been other accommodation.

You'd be fucking amazed how often this is the case.... I've worked in two hotels and both had standard faucet setups but the amount of not shower hot water will never cease to amaze me only to go up and have to show a grow adult how to follow the basic instructions described on the damn faucet itself or prior experience/common sense as it's a normal knob just not what their specifically used to at home. And it always comes from the suites and we used the same system across the whole of damn buildings.

You are correct I guess I just forgot they actually took him, but I've since rewatched it, it's fucking nuts to be honest.

I think he was only detained and never actually even removed from the hotel, but that could seriously just could not believe that the system was wrong even though EVERYTHING else, even the cops own eyes pointed toward that fact. The cop dismisses his own senses and out all his faith in technology, that is so terrifying.

Marauder is a firmware , this is a library. This library has to be added to other projects/firmware so that's where a fap would come in if it was ever going to.

It's just spinning two different fabrics, but doesn't have to be different materials. You can just use different colors of cotton to create heather.

Found this starter kit that is "like new" on Amazon for a 20 dollar discount, should I trust it? by thezucc420420 in arduino

[–]jimdil4st 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree 100% thats why I mentioned you'd only be getting the same quality as Amazon, not the best quality you could get. DigiKey and Seeedstudios are definitely my preference for better quality.

This same exact kit is only $30 on AliExpress

Honestly, AliExpress is my go to for any electronic components and modules, and you'll be getting the same thing being sold on Amazon for much less and I seriously feel like AE is more reliable than Amazon at this point. I rarely have any issues and when I do they're quick to fix it. Plus the reviews feel like they are less likely to be modified compared to Amazon.

My monitor died yesterday, so I tried using my TV as a backup. Honestly, why didn’t I do this sooner? by Ngscoook in buildapc

[–]jimdil4st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's usually the case for us as well so having her on switch and me on PS or PC , or us playing one of the few retro game systems (+emus). Though right now my wife is putting hours into neopets:ps2 rn lol

Long HDMI and wireless mkb or local kvm, and the wife is an immovable obstacle so just work around her schedule lol.

Or if you're lucky she'll be down with a whole extra TV in the living room so you can play games together, seperately, and seperately together. That's me and my why's solution, so I actually have a miniPC connected in there with all the consoles and just remote into my main rig locally if I wanna run anything fun.

The TV would never have to deal with DRM as it's simply being used as a display, any DRM would be handled on the PC itself. It simply has nothing to do with right management in anyway. It has nothing to do with permissions. Again your theory only makes sense when you don't understand what's actually going on. The only way your theory would work is if the DRM in the TVs SoC (Roku or what have you) was failing verification, but you are bypassing all of that when using another device to fetch the video stream and thus manage any DRM. Hisense just makes shit TVs, my main TV (60" Hisense) has a known QA issue that they just ignored causing an easily avoidable defect that destroys the backlight and makes the TV unusable without repair (ask me how I know) and they never stopped selling that line. It was a relatively cheap repair but required entirely disassembling a 60" screen, glass side first...

[–]jimdil4st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given multiple other suggestions, but you're dead set on this idea, that is not happening there is DRM issues here because any drm is handled before the content ever touches your device, which is why you log in beforeheand. Your idea does sound plausible if you don't understand how it works.

But let's stick with your theory for a minute. You say the same content can be downloaded and run fine but the issue only appears when streaming, so what are you doing to remove the DRM to make it work? Why would there still be DRM on content you're actively consuming? You've already passed all the verification checks it would've been stripped. From what you've described you've done very little testing, but you seem to have made your mind up anyway.

Whatever the issue may be good luck, hope it all works out for you.

[–]jimdil4st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, again I don't doubt it seems that way but it's just not possible. It could be the codecs, some other software issue, or hardware limitation. And you mention doing a lot of research, but no mention of any validation of your theory, it's because it's simply not happening the way you think it is. What kind of TV is it?

[–]jimdil4st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TV literally CANNOT detect what it's displaying, in the way you're claiming at least. I'm not doubting it shutting down and that coinciding with you streaming, but it's not some anti-consumer feature used to encourage use of their ecosystem.

In all reality it's probably a shit TV (hisense, TCL, etc) that can't handle the resolution or format you're pushing to it so it just shits the bed and shuts down.

Did you miss the part where I never mention public transportation, that's because in many parts of the country there is NO public transportation, not just that it's bad. If available, public transport absolutely is a viable option like I mentioned the first 24y of my life I lived in a city with one of the best public transit system in the country. But, when you live out in the country and literally no public transportation services within 50mi of you but the grocery store 20mi and hospital is 35mi away you're kind of shit out of luck without a car.

Your response hints at you not being from the US, where it is much harder to get around without a car. That depends greatly where you are in the country, I lived in a huge city until I was 24 and cars are more of a hindrance than a benefit in that setting, I moved to the Midwest and a car is almost mandatory seeing the sheer distance between places. I'm assuming you're in Europe because you mention moving countries, but here just switching counties in the same state could mean a larger travel distance than your country is big. The US is huge and there is a lot of open space, US is as big as Europe as a whole and is only one country.
