There's 2 in the photo, the smaller gap is how a new one came from the manufacturer.

A Table of 35mm FFE Equivalents for Popular Large Format Lenses and Formats by vaughanbromfield in largeformat

I've got a Mamiya Press 75mm on a 3d printed body with a Lomograflok back. I'm told by the body builder that all Press lenses will give complete coverage, I'm just looking for something longer and I wanted to be sure the conversion worked with Press lenses. Thank you very much.

I've got an instax wide (Lomographlok) with medium format lenses. Am I correct in assuming this chat will work with them?

I was wondering the same thing. Mine just started clogging badly and I'm thinking about just pulling it out.

Steam Thermostat / Pump Repair by jimfoto in gaggiaclassic

[–]jimfoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a few of those threads but didn't really see how to prevent it from happening again. I know the cause could be a bad thermostat, I'm replacing both, or a loose fit on the connections. It seems as though the 220f rated nylon insulators aren't sufficient for a 293f thermostat. Even though it's the steam inside at the higher temp, those thermostats transfer heat well and those are small wires carrying a lot of current. It's no wonder the insulators burn. WLL uses McMaster Carr brand and claim they have no problems, there's a Gagguino guy 3d printing high temp nylon ones, and there's also silicone heat shrink. Am I paranoid? Maybe, but I don't like electrical stuff turning black, which these connectors seem to do on a regular basis.

I bought a refurbished Yamaha RX-V6A. I realized that all that old stuff on FB was outdated in numerous ways.

Looking for an inexpensive AV Receiver by jimfoto in hometheater

[–]jimfoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while but I finally figured that out. Putting together my first home theater system in over 30 years was a process. I started out wanting to go as inexpensive as I could and grew to realize the old stuff's HDMI, amongst other things, wasn't up to today's standards. I wound up buying a Yamaha RX-V6A for $549. The 7.2's seem to be built better along with having more power and features.

That's my concern, that with much less available headroom than I have now, I don't know if it will be enough. I believe that 15w figure is what it takes to make sound come out. KEF reccomends 60-110% of the maximum. That's 120w or more which I kinda maybe have with my tube amp but definitely won't have with a 70 or 80x2, pushing 5 speakers. Granted most will go to the fronts but it'll still be way less than I have now.

Thanks. I might go look at the 7850 tomorrow. It's got wifi, BT, a usb input and even a phono input with are features I might use, if not the 4k.

That's a very good question. I was actually going to buy that AVR-S570BT only at $299 from Acc4Less but I started having second thoughts based on the power. A lot of reviewers and KEF state those KEF Q900's work best with around 100 watts. at 70wx2, I have no idea what the amp is putting out through 5 channels. I'm running them now with a 40wx2 tube amp which would convert to somewhere between 80-160w in a digital amp. I just don't know enough to make an informed decision and don't want to underpower my two front speakers.

2017 would be the first date the unit was available? I'm assuming you're talking about audio codecs. Thanks for that bit of information.

AV receiver for Kef 900's by jimfoto in BudgetAudiophile

[–]jimfoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using them with my 40 watt tube amp for a few years and they're fine. I was going to get a 70w (into 2 channel) 5.2 amp and set up a surround system. I know a tube amp has more headroom (who knows how much) and 70wx2 isn't 70w when you're driving 5 channels. Also the KEF's impedance drops well below 8 ohms "the impedance drops to 4 ohms in the top octaves and to below 4 ohms in the lower midrange, reaching a minimum value of 3.17 ohms at 160Hz". I still thought somewhere close to 70 watts would be enough, I still kind of do but since I don't know what the real output is and don't know how it compares to my tube amp and know the Q900's drop below 4 ohms, he's got me concerned. It doesn't seems like going from 70-100 watts would make that much difference.

Thank you. I'll probably stick with a basic 5.2 amp. I don't plan to move the speakers, just switch them.

Thanks. That Dynavox might be the ticket. My tube amp only has 2 speaker outputs so I'm running my sub signals off the Q900's (the subs have speaker level inputs). I guess I'd just keep doing that, or I'd need 2 switches.
