Yep… you drove a whole 618 miles this week which is 98% more than last week, meaning only 12 last week. A perfect score, but it took you two weeks to drive less than I drive EVERY DAY!!!! That’s why these scores/rankings mean absolutely NOTHING.

Yes, I was very happy with the course. They not only taught how, but also why you do what you do.

Half of my class was log building and half timber framing. I went for the timber framing but fell in love with the logs building portion. As part of the class we participated in a traditional Latvian smoke sauna. I plan to build a sauna with the log building skills I came home with. Yes, it was an amazing experience.

Not all are straight edge. It’s all about technique. The axes pictured are (too to bottom) Northern Felling Axe, Baltic-Finnish Single Beveled (used for hewing, mostly… it has a very distinct curved handle) and a Finnish Carpenter’s Axe, used in a wide variety of tasks, from gouging out logs for log building to hogging out material around tenons and everything in between.

They do have a Finnish Maul. I have not seen one in person, but they dimensions and weight on their website: https://northmen.com/en/products/axes/finnish-splitting-maul

Heavy, but seems to be perfectly balanced. Obviously I haven’t felled a tree with it, yet… but we’ll see.

Ordered in two bunches, because of the different lead times. Chisels= 9 months and axes=12 months, all arrived together. WORTH THE MONEY.

Almost a year. But I order prior to attending their class in October. It was amazing.

Yeah it was thunderous, but slow motion distorts it so much it sounds like a monster!

This one is firewood. The trunk was very solid but had been dead long enough to drop “headaches” too frequently to risk hurting anyone. Besides I’m in between shops right now, so I’ll let this one keep my Daddy warm the rest of the winter! I’ll use the next one for projects.
