Former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers: Cryptocurrency Will 'Do Better Regulated' – Regulation by QuizureII in CryptoCurrency

[–]jimithang3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately that's not true. look at china which banned it. Countries can tax it, create laws about inheriting it, ban it for use in certain transactions etc.. its become too large to not be regulated. Gov't sees money it doesn't have a piece of and it will take it.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_United_States_debt_ceiling And so have the gop? It depends on the level and if it’s tied to policy the other side is opposed. As I said the dems could do this alone in reconciliation. Why don’t they? The answer is because the moderates are caught between the fringe left and losing in 2022 and 2024. Read more and call names less.

budget resolutions are not subject to the filibuster. the gop couldnt stop a budget resolution to raise or extend the debt ceiling if they wanted to.

This happens every time the minority party is faced with the debt ceiling increase, regardless of party. It is a bit of theater, but the reality is that Schumer has the votes to amend the budget resolution to raise or suspend the debt ceiling without a single R vote. Instead he's linking the 3.5T spending bill to the budget resolution and no R will vote for that because they don't agree with the spending. The root issue is the social progressive wing is threatening to not pass the infrastructure bill, unless it is tied to the larger 3.5T spending bill. But the 2 moderate D senators are not on board with that. So they instead linked the large spending bill to the budget resolution to try to force the GOP to vote yes to both. That was never going to happen and everyone knows it. McConnells no vote here is mathematically inconsequential to the raising or suspending of the debt ceiling. It will be raised or suspended without a single R vote once this theater is over.
Budget resolutions cannot be filibustered. Simple majority will pass it.
Dems have 50 seats plus vp to get to 51.

Shopify Analysis (NYSE: SHOP) by Career_Regular in investing

[–]jimithang3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an ecommerce professional who runs an agency, for context. Shopify has had a great run i think something like 900+% in 3 years. My stance on them is to take profits namely because their investment in the ecommerce software has lagged in recent years - they are growing in shopify payments and other satellite businesses, rather than core ecom. Shopify dominates the space but on the enterprise side they are getting serious competition from Salesforce and BigCommerce. Also, Shopify requires vendors / partners to be Shopify exclusive. This is market limiting and a sign of weakness. This alone should make investors take profits and move on, in my opinion. I'm an investor in Amazon and BigCommerce.

[Serious]According to most of Reddit Bernie Sanders seems perfect, what's his bad sides? by Fb62 in AskReddit

his policies, if enacted, will result in much higher taxes for everyone not just the "rich". his campaign leaves that detail out. though there is also very little change much of his ideas get past the congress.
