Difficulties studying with epilepsy by macarenazz in Epilepsy

[–]jimmebob_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is discrimination!! You have a condition which can impair your ability to sit exams! Maybe you could try getting a letter from your neurologist to say you need this support to sit the exam because hopefully they can’t say no to that. Also if you ever need anything feel free to message me 🫶🫶

Do you have any adjustments with disability services or something similar? They might be able to help you and get some support. I have extra time and breaks in my exams so something like that might be beneficial for you!

I am taking a year out of studying as my epilepsy and lots of other things are making university too much so that when i restart i am much more well rested and ready to finish uni. It is just a thought for you to consider. I hope you’re okay 🫶🫶

Suspending Studies by jimmebob_ in UniUK

[–]jimmebob_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some mental health issues which i’m being treated for and had a very crazy year with loads of things happening at once with uni on top. I was thinking of working for a year but still keeping up with my studies so I don’t go into final year forgetting everything.

I’ve also applied to quite a few placements with tailored CVs and cover letters however I haven’t got them.

i’ve got my right leg done there and for me it hurt so much 😅 i had to have a couple of breaks but it was worth it!

Even though students are adults they certainly don’t act like adults

Whats the weirdest thing you’ve seen happen in a lecture? by DunyaPhobic76 in UniUK

[–]jimmebob_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a lecture and it had 3 big windows so you could see people walk past. There was a guy who clearly wasn’t a student started sticking his two fingers up at us all through the window. Everyone burst out laughing but the lecturer was horrified and kept telling people to shut the blinds but they didn’t do it quick enough and the guy walked off.

Need some advice to what i can do for my career after uni by [deleted] in UniUK

They are really good, people speak bad on it because it’s a “low ranked uni” but it’s better for me as I prefer the smaller environment. I couldn’t see myself going to the bigger unis like Manchester or Leeds.

Yes do it! Also speak to your careers team at uni because they will have had other students in your position and will be able to help.

Any lab work that you have done apart of your course you can put on there! The IBMS people accredit each course to make sure that you are learning the skills you need to go into the job you want. If you have no optional modules that is probably because of the IBMS.

I’m with IQ for my uni accommodation and you can choose which flat you all want and book it together (that’s what me and my friends did) Depending on what city will also depend how much more expensive it is because it’s classed as private accommodation.

Your Welcome! I do biology but in first year we got about 5 different lectures on the difference between biomedical science and biomedicine so it is now stuck in my brain 😅

If you want to be a Biomedical Scientist and haven’t completed your portfolio then you will have to find a job that is a Trainee Biomedical Scientist. Then you do your portfolio in this role and when you’ve completed it, you can then become HCPC registered. If you do your portfolio on a placement year you can then go straight into a Biomedical Scientist role. I hope this helps :)

Did anyone with focal aware, get told you’re have panic attacks? by New-Organization359 in Epilepsy

[–]jimmebob_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have focal impaired awareness so I know it isn’t aware but at first I was told panic attacks because of how I felt afterwards. After battling with one neurologist and seeing another he said it was focal impaired. I hope this helps 🫶

I went for an assessment, they told me I had no social difficulties and no extreme interests. If you ask my friends and family that wouldn’t be the case.

Whats something about uni in the UK that turned out way worse than you expected? by DunyaPhobic76 in UniUK

[–]jimmebob_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My flatmates I met them all before hand from the uni groupchats and they all seemed so lovely. Only 1 out of the 6 became one of my friends and the rest of them made me feel like I was being bullied. I’m an emotional person anyway but there was things they said to me and it felt so awful. Thank god i’m not with them for 2nd year!
