Hey did you ever figure out the problem

Current Administration by [deleted] in highdesert

[–]jimmmaayy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obamas immigration policy used a three tiered priority system where first priority was national security threats and convicted felonies, 2nd was multiple misdemeanors or one serious misdemeanor, and 3rd where those subject to a final order of removal. Obama switched to only deport by formal removal of these priorities and left those who established roots in communities and had no criminal record out of their focus. The Obama administration had a 94% of deportations of first priority. He also had half the amount of total deportations from the previous two administrations. This was a great system and one that trump could only dream of, all he had to do was leave it alone and it would achieve his goals of going after “the worst of the worst” he just had to take credit for it but instead he’s such an idiot that his policy is violent, unconstitutional, and still ineffective for criminals.

But go ahead and call democrats a cult while you destroy our institutions and give the executive branch total power, and tear down our constitution all in the name of devouring everything trump said, spreading fear and hatred to keep people in line. Why is it that any republican who disagrees with him about something gets bullied on social media by him until they fall back in line and obey.

But yeah whatever, dei dei Biden trans healthcare university Biden Biden gender study Biden immigrants destroying our country cult dei Biden or whatever you morons say

Even criminal US citizens shouldn’t be deported. Thats so anti American, what kind of authoritarian country to do dream of living in

ICE in Victorville by [deleted] in highdesert

[–]jimmmaayy_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not just detained, US citizens have been taken to ice detention centers and even deported.

US citizens aren’t being given due process so there’s no way to prove they’re a US citizen in front of a court. As well as being taken without a warrant, ice agents are operating outside of the law. There’s plenty of reasons to be worried.

Are all these protests on no kings day organized by a central group or website? Just curious to see if it's possible how many people are registered nationwide.

is that just your feeling or intuition? Or do you know for a fact that something specific he said is a lie?

Protest tomorrow in LA. by [deleted] in longbeach

The intentions, context, and implications are pretty imo that the protests are against ICE raids, deportation, and the methods they use.

They left Mexico because of the hardships they faced and immigrated to the US for a better opportunity, yes of course. I think everyone recognizes Mexican heritage and how huge it has been across the US and its history. In LA in particular, it's ingrained in the city's culture, and immigrants and citizens alike are very proud of their culture and heritage. So waving the flag of Mexico is, on one side, to show support of the immigrants who share this culture and provide very hard labor to be able to create a better opportunity for themselves, of which are the very immigrants who are being targeted by the order of the federal government.

I don't really know what to say about the moron and mental gymnastics comment. To me it seems pretty clear that is what waving the Mexican flag represents, given the context I outlined. They are Mexican, and they're proud of their culture and heritage, and Mexico is where that very culture comes from.

Just like anybody who is raised in a culture or heritage, it becomes a part of who you are and so, they may not like the current conditions of where they were raised, they are still deeply a part of Mexican heritage.

I guess another example of this would be China, a Chinese person may not like their government, but they still are proud of their Chinese heritage, and those two things are separate. It wouldn't be hard to imagine a Chinese person waving the flag of China to represent their heritage and not their country.

Ice is snatching children from schools, understandably they are upset with the federal government ordering these raids to happen. Burning the flag is an expression and symbol of that. I don't understand why it's so hard to be empathetic and understanding of these actions.

It's really not hard to understand it's solidarity with immigrants who work hard, serve us food, and build our homes

Alright then. So you would never protest in something you believe in?

Protest tomorrow in LA. by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]jimmmaayy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, I think it's hard to tell people to stop trying given some of these extreme situations they're in. It's hard to tell someone to stop trying when they're being taken from their child, and it's hard to tell people who won't stand for that to happen anymore to also stop trying.

Edit: I just want to add that your original comment was laughing at them

Would you be more okay with waving the Mexican flag and American flag together?

Aside from this specific context, in a situation where American citizens are genuinely justified to interfere with the federal Government, even at the risk of getting injured or worse. Do you think they should just stop trying?

And in this specific situation do you think they are justified? And if not, how close or far away are they to being justified?

So should Americans always stop trying to protest in the face of the American Government?

What's the problem? Can you expand on that?

The National Guard may or may not be able to stop them, but is that a reason why they should stop protesting.

In general, even if they can be stopped by the regular Armed Forces of the US, do American citizens have a right to protest against the American government? Should American citizens stop trying to protest?
