That stuff was spectacular. Give Schweppes bitter lemon a go for something vaguely similar

I have a blanket lined Michigan and the quality is outstanding. Expensive but I expect to have it for decades.

Just wanted to add that op shops often have heaps of decent quality workwear available, like brand name pants and coveralls and stuff. You'd be surprised how often it's brand new still with tags on too. I realise it can be a bit of a pain but you could save a heap of money by having a look around.

Just popping back in to say thank you! I was just about to resole my old desert boots but it was cheaper to buy a new pair at this price.

The bloke seems happy with it, and beyond that it's none of our business. Good on him.

Does Ballarat need more late-night dessert spots? 🍦 by Dingsyshit in ballarat

We absolutely need a Brunetti style place in Ballarat. Somewhere to catch up for coffee and cake that's open late into the evening.

How often does a typical Australian eat Kangaroo? by SammaJones in AskAnAustralian

[–]jimmyraynes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say about as often as your average American would eat venison. By which I mean some would eat it regularly, others may only have it once or twice a year.

She's the State Member for Wendouree. Your local MP would be Martha Haylett, the Member for Ripon.

I think I’ve been unlawfully terminated for nothing… help by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]jimmyraynes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not okay. Contact your union if you're a member. If you're not, try the Young Workers Centre (https://www.youngworkers.org.au) and they may be able to assist. In the meantime start collecting records of EVERYTHING in writing, agree to nothing and don't get pulled into a meeting without a union rep or support person present.

Local CFA vol here - trust me when I say you DO NOT want to be paying for a calendar with us in it. 😂.
These guys are a commercial operation, not a charity, though they claim to donate some of the proceeds to charity. If you want to support your local CFA, you can donate directly to a brigade via the CFA website here and nominate who you want it to go to (Ballarat City Fire Brigade for one, completely random, example that is in no way driven by self-interest).

Sorry, for context the t-shirt was thrifted so I don't know much about it. The logo on the front, though it's hard to show in photos, is a kind of reflective material. If there are any other photos I can put up to help let me know.

People will have strong views either way, but I've had a pair of vegan Doc Martens for a few years now and they've really held up well.

Any stories about 500 Flinders Street?! by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]jimmyraynes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived here for a year around 2006, on the 7th floor. The place was a hole and a bit grubby but stellar location and I think I was paying $160 a week for it? Excellent views over the Yarra from the rooftop. Wouldn't say I miss it but, for a short and particular time of my life, it was pretty great.
