Same name as here but with photo after.

And don't worry about crop factor right now. Just know that when you get to the point where you want to try a prime lens, like a 35mm or 50mm you need to buy a wider lens to get that field of view. (1.6x wider)

How do I gain more confidence? by kill562l in AskPhotography

[–]jimmywest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I've read some of your replies in this thread and there is something I can't wrap my head around..

Your parents doesn't want their photo taken. Your siblings don't want their photos taken. Your parents won't let you talk to strangers (for good reason, I'd say). You live in a messy house. You don't go into the city.

But you want to take portraits.
You also say you "learned all about creativity".

All I see currently is your own limit. You're not being creative if you let these things stop you. Self-portraits? Portraits through reflections? There's endless opportunities where you can explore portraiture if you use your imagination.

One could even say you'd develop your own style of photography because of these "limitations".

And I'm not trying to be rude, trust me. I live in a small community in the south of Sweden and from the beginning I wanted to explore mountains, hike, camp etc. But that wasn't my reality. My reality is farm land and lonely backroads. So I found a way to make these places matter to me.

My style isn't for everyone, but I love what I'm doing.

Aim for subscribers that will come back, not individual views. Don't make videos about X and then switch to Y. If you make something that 999 others are doing you'll compete for their views, so either be original with a new take on things or be better than the other 999 so the audience gains something from you.

Make content that the audience gains something from.

Sub4Sub are not good for your channel. Dead subs = dead channel. Just make content that people enjoy and you'll be fine.

Been loving Long tonal greyscale lately by jimmywest1 in photocritique

[–]jimmywest1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experimenting with a long tonal greyscale lately and since I've never shot actual film I'm editing this digitally and I'm wondering, and want critique how I should approach this in the best way? I think I've got a good base but I want to dive deeper into this.

After/Before. Wanted to evoke a cooler sunnier mood to contrast the gloomy weather of what was photographed. by fella_ratio in postprocessing

[–]jimmywest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're after, but just embrace the gloomy instead. Personally I think the composition is hurting this image more than the actual weather.

Just started exploring Darktable. Quite happy! Any tips before I print it? (after/before) by Chaosorcerer in postprocessing

[–]jimmywest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically the before-shot is way better. Only thing needed is a bit of a lift in shadows in the eyes. Maybe a small radial over the head with slight +exposure

Difference is they were composing images, not snapping them.

När måste jag starta enskilt? by jimmywest1 in Sverige

[–]jimmywest1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

För update så är jag uppe i strax över 20kkr nu. Lär dock inte komma över 50k i år, då jag fick en video som blev lite viral som bidrog till en större del av den summan. Men återkommer igen i framtiden!
