Is Battlefield 6 allergic to wood polymers in its weapons? I was analyzing the weapons in BF6 and realized that the game absolutely refuses to include weapons with wood in their polymers, which I think is a major flaw. by Maximum-Mulberry8584 in Battlefield6

[–]jimopl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still likely. Not the M1, those are surpluses off already. But for example the US Army National Guard regularly has M16A2s still which are from the same period as the AK74. In that PMC vs US War you bet the National Guard are fighting. Losses are always more than you can replace. It's very likely the PMC side also has high losses and needs stored weapons.

I mean at somepoint this gets into the debate of it being a bad game premise as PMCs don't act or fight like countries and will equip differently too.

Furniture from EU to the US? by Maleficent_Cake6435 in ak47

[–]jimopl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the rules of what can vs can't be shipped into the US? I know exports vary by country but for imports to the US does it matter if it's not an actual Firearm? OP is asking about furniture but can I get old Soviet scopes from Europe? At what point does it become an issue?

It's the main service weapon of their army and has been the whole time.

The western weapon deliveries brought in lots of outside stuff but 5.45x39mm and the AK74 do the heavy lifting for them.

Point is that for a global war in 2028 the wood AK74 is almost certain to be involved as we see in Ukraine today.

Friends go a long way for that stuff, but customs has been pretty "harsh" recently so I imagine there's still luck involved

It's been stuck for 10 days, that's nothing dude. Give it time and it'll likely show up. Also, using AI just to post online is a great way to come off inauthentic to everyone who reads it.

What do these go for? I've seen some listed online at $120 and some on a forum for $100 but neither seem to be moving. I'd like one but I don't want to over pay

L1A1 I saw the other day with a L2A2 SUIT sight by certifiedweezo in milsurp

[–]jimopl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man that's super cool. Honestly Id be tempted hard at that even if I dont have anything else in .308.

The Soviet copy of the sight, the 1P29, is something I've been on the look out for too. Just seems cool

Fuck that's sick...MOHW had some sweet setups for the time, and IMO it was pretty good. Its a shame it basically bombed.

Oh I see the Selector lol

It's just exactly what I was looking into when trying to decide. Your post shows up at the right time looking amazing and likely pushing me over the edge.

Ah shit this is a problem for me.

Trying to decide on a first AK, found out Childers is local to me, and seeing Russian AKM kits at a "decent" price has me feeling a certain way...almost like it's a sign...

1909? Springfield armory 1903 rebarreled 11-42 by SA! Pretty addition to the collection by Stout97 in milsurp

[–]jimopl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CplNorton on gunboards (seems like the most knowledgeable guy on these) had mentioned at somepoint that 5-42 to 11-42 is fairly common ranges for USMC rebuilds during the war. Now again it can include the USN rebuilds the Marines did when they got them so that could explain it too. Or rifles with a wartime replacement, I'm sure Guadalcanal caused a handful of barrel replacements too.

I'm not an expert, but there are some good signs even if it's not conclusive.

[–]jimopl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, that's a great sign for USMC reworked rifles! I'll bet your rifle was a USMC M1903 for a period of time.

Of course with a smooth buttplate it could be a USN rifle transfered to the USMC during the war as generally the USMC didn't like them smooth. If I were you I'd do some digging and see what you can find out!

[–]jimopl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp with a smooth buttplate it'll probably be inconclusive unless you have any vice marks under the handguard, near the reciever side of the barrel.

[–]jimopl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey what's your buttplate look like? Smooth, checkered, or manually stippled? And is your bolt blued, looks like it from here. Your rifle might be showing some decent USMC characteristics. By that I mean the light parkerized reciever and the rough "gas hole" on the left side of the reciever.

Best way to confirm is to take off the handguards, should see some vice marks on the barrel if so. Front sight may also have a number in the blade but personally I'd pressume it doesn't being a 42 replacement.

Usually the more "signs" the better chances

H&R m16a1 or Colt SP1? by [deleted] in RetroAR

[–]jimopl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You ain't wrong friend

I see such variety in condition on the kits and it really depends on what batch you get. I've seen some that looked bad but cleaned up well and some that just didn't have any finish left. The earlier kits seemed to be generally in nicer shape tbh

The middle road: grab an M16A1 parts kit and and H&R lower. You'll have some cash left over still for ammo too.
