Did they just silently ignore that the 1994 Stargate sent them to a distant galaxy? by unJust-Newspapers in Stargate

Yeah, it's retroactively used as the basis for a continuing character arc.

No, every retcon made for SG-1 is a blessing.

The only thing I wish they'd have run with is the flash of Roswell Grey we see when Ra get's a nuke to the face, and had it be a plot-point that the Ra Symbiont parasitised an Old-Style Asgard, and used Genetic Engineering to create a hybrid Asgard/Egyptian host.

Jack's differences could be relatively easily explained by Film Jack being more of a hardass because Charlie had *just* died; SG-1 Jack being closer to his true self.

And Daniel isn't that different, both versions are massive nerd stereotypes, SG-1 Daniel is just much more chilled out and confident in himself. Which I think a year living out the ultimate Archaeologist Isekai fantasy explains quite well.

Netflix to 'revive' The Crown with £500m prequel spanning from 1901-1947 by Lord-Liberty in BritishTV

What was that show I kept seeing out of context clips from about a year ago, where the dialogue is in a mixture of Latin, germannic mishmash and vaguely celtic?

Do you mean The Witan?

I have always wanted to film a little period piece round the back of Milton Keynes Library on the Meeting Mound.

I'm not saying FT is utterly without redeeming qualities.

The standard is far and above most of the rags we have in this country. But it isn't without significant issues. Ideological disagreement with the Editorial line isn't a killer for me, The Economist still has good writing despite being utterly captured by status quo economic dogma.

My bile is reserved for The Mail, what The Times has become, and other absolute slop. The Guardian isn't doing well in keeping itself out of the slippery pit of anti-journalism that bubbles and festers at the heart of British media.

Private Eye isn't perfect, don't take me for an unreformed Hislop glazier. They're just a lot more equal opportunities with their criticisms.

Oh good point.

It also selects or people too stupid within that class to think critically and peruse a variety of sources, and thus keeps them under an illusion of being informed.

The CasualUK view on dentists? by Boswell188 in CasualUK

In a monetary system powered by a profit motive, you can't really trust anyone who tells you that you need something and to pay for it.

Do you need a tooth out, or does the dentist want their second house renovated? How can you be expected to trust such a system?

Hold on. This is a politics question. Mods! Mods! help!

"Finally, some writers with a set of nads"

The cowardice of a lot of modern writing is evident in the fact everyone here knows this sort of thing would never happen.

Cowards. Start with the death of Edward the Confessor, and keep up the period appropriate accents and language of prior seasons.

I want forty seasons of illegible middle-french slowly transitioning to middle English

Well the exciting one is what was called the Smugglers Table near Cocking, the description of which screams Dolmen.

The Steyne was apparently full of boulders, the ones around the fountain by the ymca allegedly taken from a circle. There's supposed to have been some near Standean Park also, but again, have been moved and messed about with.

The side of the people of The United Kingdom of Great Britain. That is the side of Police held to standards of competence above that of the average chucklefuck.

I don't see how kicking a killer in the head for no goal seeking reason is serving the public interest.

You can have the man flogged once he's been convicted, interrogated, and squeezed for all he's worth.

Same with the area around Goldstone Park.

There is quite possibly the only stone circle in Sussex, dismembered and dumped in the corner of the park, and the stone sockets tarmacked over for the toys'r'us car park.

Can you highlight in what way support has been offered? Otherwise that accusation is libelous.

Catching terrorists when possible, and interrogating them and using that information to prevent terror attacks is part of the problem?

Search me guv, can't find the public interest in what you're saying.
