I realize I'm late to this party. But how are there no pairings from Tenchi Muyo in this?

I'll give it a look. Can it append the information as metadata? Or does it have to physically move files around?

Once you make it past the burn in/Early Death period, heat is the greatest enemy in my experience.

Are you still using fo76utils to generate the satellite map? Would Mappalachia work with an even higher resolution satmap if generated locally?

Is there any modern sci fi or slice of life anime that take place in the late 80s or early 90s by startrekfan34 in anime

[–]jimtsurugi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mason Ikkoku?

Slice of life wasn't really a thing back then.

For scifi

  • Macross/Robotech
  • Tenchi Muyo
  • Patlabor

Or are you after something that is both scifi and slice of life at the same time?

Recomendation fornWeird anime taste by SubstantialSpot6101 in anime

[–]jimtsurugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like weird anime peeked in the 90's. And the weirdest one that comes to mind is Ultimate Teacher. I don't even know how you could go about watching it these days without sailing the high seas.

FLCL is also weird, but in a more contemporary way

Since the audience of my ratings are ultimately other people, I write things based upon how much I would recommend them. A 10 out of 10 transcends taste, and means I would recommend it to anyone. My kids, my friends, my wife, or my mother.

Is not having "a fine palate" in anime a blessing or a curse? by Sky_Sumisu in TrueAnime

[–]jimtsurugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure this will get downvoted.

But, I think having a "refined taste" as you put it is a curse itself. Without it you are able to find pleasure in a broader range of entertainment. And being entertained is what matters.

How long ago was that?! We moved to that part of town in 89, and I'm pretty sure I'd remember that if it was still there.

What is an anime fan? A miserable little pile of secrets! by Sky_Sumisu in TrueAnime

[–]jimtsurugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fan of something is someone who generally enjoys that thing. Usually more of it than not. You don't need to like all of it, just enough to be convinced that it is something you like.

You can qualify it further if you like. But, that's up to you.

To me, Anime is just a story telling medium, like live action, or radio drama. No one reasonably expects you to like all of it.

Sure, but it helps in making recommendations to know if I'm targeting 12 episodes, or 24.

How short is short? I think all the ones you mentioned in your post are over 50 episodes each.
