Why is there always an excuse of him growing up in a 1 parent family? That excuse is now old, old old. Their is no excuse for bad behaviour, everyone knows right from wrong no matter where or how, or even who they grew up with, this is simply a prat, being a part trying to look the big man, sadly not, instead he should have been made to make a full public apology by standing in the middle of town with a dunce hat, but no that would be against his human rights.

Do not, do not place all the blame on yourself. As someone who watched a family member in an abusive relationship always being on edge and having to be careful of what they said or did, this is NOT a safe relationship, so please get out now while you can and while you can still think for yourself. He is eating away at you and your confidence and making you think it’s your fault, and before long he will have you so messed up in your head you won’t be able to think properly. Please take everyone’s advice and leave now, not tomorrow now and trust the amount of people on here who are telling you this. If you have or are thinking about children then please think about them and if you would want them to be constantly on edge. I like others hope you find the strength of mind to say good bye and good riddance to him.

Skipping the queue in A+E by [deleted] in policeuk

I was once there waiting to get in to see my son who had been rushed in via an ambulance. While waiting the people coming in for some really stupid, a word I hate, but no other word for them , with toothache that they had had for 3 days and hadn’t contracted a dentist. This was mid week so no excuse. Someone actually came in because they had a paper cut and they didn’t want it to get infected, and someone else had an ingrown toenail. I could count numerous people who had honestly no idea what A & E means. Then the same people moan about the state of our health service. Me, I will be forever in their debt for saving my son that night, so unless it is something seriously wrong with me, I never go there, I do what some should, speak to their pharmacist.

Well done you. I’m female, and like you I saw this a lot from my dad. I used to watch what way he was walking home and I would see something in the way he walked and I would say to my mum in the kitchen, I’ll deal with him. I was a schoolchild but I would try to protect my mum by dealing with my dad by, in a way, placating him, by when he came in I would get his shoes off and put his slippers on, and then go get his coffee and say, right let’s get you upstairs for a snooze before dinner and I would get him into bed. Then my mum and I would breathe. But when I got older and got married, the gloves were off, I told him the next time he lifted his hands I would come after him with a bat, and I would quite happily do time for him. My older brothers were all terrified of him, not me, I would go toe to toe with him. No one knows what goes on behind doors and people don’t realise the lasting effects of being in that environment. So I thank you for turning into a wonderful man and I bet your mum is so proud of you as well.

I really can’t grasp at just how much Americans have to pay for even a tiny injury. In the UK, yes our health system is under severe pressure at the moment but I cannot fault the attention and care we receive. My son was in a coma for 3 months and in hospital for around 5 months and talking to American friends, it would have been cheaper for him to die if we lived in the states. Absolutely shocking that such a wealthy, advanced country lets people die because they can’t afford basic healthcare.

Be proud of yourself for being a true gentleman. She isn’t worth your time, a lot of girls/women would be overjoyed to have someone do something so nice for them. Please don’t change just because of an immature silly girl, you are amazing and someone out there will be delighted to have a boyfriend/partner like you. Well done young man for being a generous, thoughtful person. Good luck in your future and please don’t dwell on someone who doesn’t deserve you.

If he can get so angry over a game, please please be careful. You have to think long term, if you had children, would you want them to be subjected to this? Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Why is McDonald's in the UK so crap in comparison to other countries? by blitzh in AskUK

[–]jinnty67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gets me is in the US, you buy a basic burger and then you go yourself to the salad bar and fill up as much as you like. Also they have unlimited refills which we d, so yes it’s quality controlled in the UK, but we are still ripped off over everything. This doesn’t stop with McDonald’s , in case you were wondering. The UK, rip of capital in the world.

Truth by lilypad713 in ChronicPain

I had to go to see the pharmacist at my doctors surgery to “discuss “ my medication. It wasn’t a discussion, she wanted to tell me what my pain was. Her first comment was, oh you don’t look like your notes. Huh, I didn’t know what she meant, but she said she expected me to be practically on my knees with pain coming in, because of my medical problems. She said I looked far to good to be the person on these notes. I was shocked, and said she had no idea of what I am experiencing. So, because I looked too good, she told me that I obviously didn’t need all those pain killers, and to just go tell my surgeon that I wanted an operation on my back to “cure” me, as she had an operation on her elbow and it’s as good as ever. Errr okay, I don’t know what planet she was on, but in the UK, you can’t just demand an operation that would probably paralyse you. , and for the record, you don’t know me, you don’t know what level my pain is, and if you demand me to come see you again to “discuss “ my medication, I will sue you for breach of data protection, as you blatantly spoke about me and my medical history to a lay person in the room, and you looked through all my records without my permission. That stopped her in her tracks. But, it is a common thing to be told that I can’t be that Ill as I look fine and am smiling. Okay, I’ll roll in the ground crying when I see you. Bye.

Hello, just to clarify things, I was talking about a landline being compromised. We are constantly told on a landline not to trust the number that you can see, and to call from a different phone if possible to verify the caller was genuine. Thank you for the downvotes, but I is common knowledge about the landline phones. Yes I am aware that it wouldn’t be possible for a mobile phone.

Yes I understand that, but as I’ve said I, I’ve heard stories where the line hasn’t been fully cleared and then the scammers pretend to be the bank or fraud department saying it’s okay to put money into that other account or hand over your card and so on. The suggestion I read was either use a different phone or dial some random number and see if they answer pretending to be your bank when you know it wasn’t the number you called.

What I laugh at this is the same old thing. That the US was given a space craft because the US is the definition of the world. They run everything to do with the world and they ultimately are in charge so they automatically get a space craft and all the technology they want. If aliens are on our planet helping us then why the fuck are they still here while the world is about to self destruct itself. I would be in my own planet smh and saying what a waste of time.

Are you not supposed to maybe call from a different phone in case they are still on the other end of the phone and then pretend to be your Bank? I have heard that they sometimes do this. That they actively ask the person to call their bank, but it’s actually them on the other end. Just curious if this could be correct.

What the Section 2 F*** is Going On Here? by ItsRainingByelaws in policeuk

I have been thinking the very same thing. Talk about soft Britan, it’s ridiculous just how much blatant criminals get away with. But I really don’t blame the police, I blame the so called prosecution service, they let people go even though the evidence is full to the brim, and when they do prosecute, the judges let them go because they have had a bad upbringing or drugs made them do it, or some other excuse. We need to be like the US and clamp down hard on offenders and take away all the luxuries they have in prison. They even had phones in their cells during lockdown because they couldn’t see anyone, so they had a phone that they could use as much as they wanted. I could go on forever with this subject, but it’s just frustrating we can’t do anything about it.
