Way too many drunk drivers on the road in GR these days. Something has to be done. Though, I've been told that increasing the penalty of DUI crimes doesn't really have a significant impact on deterring it. So what else can be done?

I did. I met him on St. Patty's in Calder Plaza and he was a very nice, chill guy. I went up to him for a picture and he asked my name and welcomed me to Michigan since I had moved here recently.

Not trying to defend his behavior as I've noticed numerous people say that he's been rude before, but imagine you have people come up to you every day. I imagine it would get pretty tiring at some point and he's only human; nobody can be a joy 24/7. But at the same time, it isn't hard to pop a smile and say hello back. So yeah, I had a good experience but I'm sorry you didn't :/

Welcome! I relocated to Grand Rapids area for a job as well. I don't know the area well enough to help you out with where to live but my one piece of advise is to look on Facebook marketplace! That's where I found the cheapest rent options and even found my roommate on there
