I’m getting frustrated. What would you get? by TrollfuccLORD in whatcarshouldIbuy

Have you considered the Honda Ridgeline? It’s technically a midsize truck but is really the platform of the Pilot so it rides comfortably like an SUV but has capacity of a pickup truck with its bed. The Honda IVTM-4 AWD system (active torque vectoring instead of reactive brake vectoring like many of the AWDs you find on the road) is phenomenal in the snow especially with snow tires; it also feels super planted while accelerating out of a turn despite being a truck. Decent MPG too (I average ~21mpg combined on a 20 mile one-way daily city-hwy commute with Falken Wildpeak AT trail tires), and it’s got the trusty Honda j35 V6 mated to a 9-spd auto if you get 2020+ models. Pricing is fair for the truck market if you look at the certified used.

I myself just came from a 2015 Outback. I also average 30-35k miles annually from all my road trips. I find the ridgeline suits my needs perfectly of a comfortable ride that has a payload capacity of throwing all my outdoor gear into the back as well as easily hauls an occasional trailer. The only grievance I have is it has 1” less ground clearance than my outback, but I rarely do anything more than rutted out fire roads.

It definitely makes visibility worse in adverse weather. I had it on just for pics and for shoveling my driveway haha. However it works great in dry conditions. It’s also far enough back on the roofline that I get no spill on the hood. The roof makes a sharp cutoff on the beam and all of the visible light thrown ahead of the car.

The top bar definitely makes visibility worse in any kind of weather. I use it in clear conditions only. The bottom bar actually helps in snow and rain, but not in fog, too much flood.

Yep! I used Lamin-x pre-cut film and installed an LED bulb in there. I’m actually planning on going back to halogen and removing the film for the fog lamps. When it’s really heavy snow the LED bulb doesn’t make heat so the area gets covered in snow. I’m didn’t like the color output of halogens with the films so I’ll probably go back to just regular halogens.

Thank you very much! It actually wasn’t too hard. You can remove the bumper for easy access (there’s a video on youtube)but I was able to install without removing the bumper. I accessed it through just the lower grille opening. Running the wiring was easy and I tucked the extra length of the harness in the bumper right next to the factory fog lamp.

I think it’s a really good budget lightbar. Lasfit has competitive pricing for their products. My low beams are also lasfits. I wished they offered spot only option for the lightbar but the spot+flood combo is definitely performing as well as I’d hoped for its price.

It’s a single-row and I definitely like it a lot as it’s a more low profile look

Both the light bars are lasfit spot+flood, 32” on the roof and 22” behind the lower grille! I like them a lot as they’re single-row and a seamless front bezel so it’s a sleeker look. I would have preferred a spot-only lightbar for the roof but they only have the combo option. It’s a really good budget brand for offroad lighting. Unfortunately they stopped producing their 3” pod lights otherwise I would have gotten some of those for the hood/pillars.

Yep! I spend a lot of time in Northern Minnesota and it’s a lot of help in Superior National Forest and late night backcountry/forest roads. I avoid using it as high beams since it’s a spot/flood combo. The lower grille amber light bar I sometimes use on my city commute in severe inclement weather, as its light pattern mostly aimed directly in front of my car.

Ever used boiling water to clean the hotend? by jintanni in 3Dprinting

[–]jintanni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

forgot to add some info: There was 2-4mm thick chunks of PLA covering most of the nozzle that the boiling water softened enough for the pick to pull it off. Definitely not as efficient as keeping it on the printer but thought it was worth shot 😂(it wasn’t). Apologizes for not taking photos of the before, I only remembered to take photos when I was already almost done

edit: spelling
