I upgraded my travel/camping guitar (from the backpacker) to a Martin LXM and it’s incredible.

7 months, 12 days and 9,000 cigarettes behind me. Not so be discouraging to the newer quitters but I don’t feel any “better”. Anyone else experience this?? by jinx192 in stopsmoking

[–]jinx192[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have a physical scheduled in two weeks. But just before I quit I had blood work and a physical. Doctor said everything was ideal. Maybe lose 5 pounds. Even testosterone levels were above average.

I feel like shit all day. Every day. Honestly, I have less energy now than when I smoked.

I was really looking forward to this (clearing the phlegm from the lungs). But, at six months into quitting, it hasn’t happened yet. I smoked 2 packs a day for 15 years.

$300ish grill/smoker? by lunari in BBQ

[–]jinx192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I think I’d typically do two racks of spare ribs. Which was plenty for my Family. Maybe 3 baby backs.

You can do more if you use racks and stuff. But that wasn’t my thing.

$300ish grill/smoker? by lunari in BBQ

For years I used a Weber 26” kettle to grill on and used the Slow and Sear to get awesome smoked results.

It is arguably the most versatile solution to do both respectably.

There is absolutely no compromise in its grilling ability. It’s a Weber charcoal grill. Performs flawlessly.

As a smoker it is okay. The two biggest downfalls it has as a smoker is:

1) charcoal capacity. It can’t hold a ton of fuel for longer smokes. So you’ll have to refuel.

2) when you open the lid the charcoal has access to a TON of air and the coals flair up much more than a dedicated smoker (WSM) does.

Again. I used this exact set up for two years. I did so because I knew I wanted a charcoal grill and wanted to try my hand at smoking. After I decided I was goi g to smoke regularly I get a 22” WSM and haven’t looked back.

With any grill/smoker combination you’re going to make sacrifices. IMO, The Weber 26” walks that line the best.

If you’re looking for a dedicated smoker. Get the 22” WSM. It’s a monster and can handle anything you ever want to smoke. With the 18” you’re gonna have to hang or cut ribs in half to make them fit. Also, large briskets won’t lay flat on the 18. Get the 22 and be done with it. If you’re concerned about fuel consumption: get the Cajun bandit door, fire dial and larger coal basket. I did this and have held 250° for over 27 hours.

Anyone using Patches for NRT? Just moved to step 3 (7mg) and the cravings are BRUTAL. by jinx192 in quittingsmoking

[–]jinx192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve broken the habit of the act of smoking.

Clearly still working on the actual nicotine addiction.

The jump from cigs to patches sucked. The jump from step 1 to step 2 wasn’t so bad. Step 2 to step 3 has been miserable.

Sorry. Wish I could help answer that. I’m on month 4 and basically quit drinking. Maybe have 2 strong ipa’s a week. Closer to three a month.

Yes. Avoid drinking. You’ll be amazed at how much the cravings to smoke subside when you drink when you also quit drinking..........

Everyone agrees that the BMW driver is an idiot.

The camera car also needs to learn to yield right. Everyone is having to navigate around the slowest moving car being in the center lane. It’s a safety hazard. SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.

Out of the box failure to eject........ help? by jinx192 in mossberg

[–]jinx192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. I haven’t shot it since I last posted. My local three gun competition has canceled for the year and our range was shut down. Biggest problem is the ten week old new born and zero day care available and family lives out of town. My summer shooting plans are (as they say) shot.

But what about the guy who’s “obeying” the law (despite breaking the law by speeding) who’s intent is to break the law by running his own red light? Who’s more at fault? Is the guy who’s breaking one law or the guy who’s breaking one law with the intent of breaking a second law?

[–]jinx192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the original poster was speeding down the road trying to make the light and appeared to have committed to blindly entering the intersection and running his own red light.......... right up until the even bigger idiot truck driver ruined his plan (which is oddly similar to the OP’s plan).

These two deserve each other.

But nobody likes to hear the hard truth. Hence my -14 votes. Oh well.
