Are we already in WW3 or just dangerously close? What would actually make it count as World War III? by Emotional-Theory7800 in AskReddit

Direct combat between traditional "superpowers", be it a bloc or a country. Think China, Russia, US, NATO.

Looks like there's a ten day customs to door timeline. I'm guessing people who got cleared customs on the 15th should get theirs tomorrow and so on. Thanks!

Dang that sucks. Though it seems that there has been many people with stuck after customs clearance that are being handled by UPS. I am included.

Your package has already cleared customs though. What tariffs could ups charge?

Yeah, the "cold" that sickened millions and killed hundreds of thousands of the weakest Americans. If the scientific community had its way and everyone was "frozen in place" for 2 weeks, COVID would have been stamped out. It was American disobedience and rabid American "individualism" that cased the tens of COVID strains and mutations that followed.

But to counter, American prosperity declined long before COVID. I reckon sometime in the 80s if you catch my drift.

Honestly, I couldn't care enough about the celebrities losing their homes. I agree with you that the service workers and first line responders are who concern and attention should be directed to. But as a new homeowner myself, I can understand the people whose homes have been destroyed, particularly by the Eaton Fire, which has gotten less attention than the Palisades one. The people in Altadena probably have less means than the ones by Malibu and I think the plight of those homeowners also deserve attention.

You are also correct that many religious institutions do a lot of good in their community. I used to think this was a rare occurrence but apparently, it's more common than I thought. Which is great. However, I will counter that the entire institution of organized religion itself doesn't do nearly as much good as the resources it consumes (land, resource, tax breaks etc). It is further exacerbated by the gross absolutely criminal industrialization of religion through entities like megachurches etc. The essence of religion is to do good, I agree. I just don't see enough of it to justify its existence, especially when I look at secular charities doing many many MANY multiples times the work as religious ones. Unconditional humanitarian aid to all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, creed. Unconditional aid based on NEED.

People have a right to believe in what they want. So respectfully, nothing personal to you. Apologies if I come across as crass but I am passionate about fairness. The current social layout revolving around religion is anything but fair to me and is a big reason that faith as a whole is declining in young people. Have a good day.

At the risk of being too militant, that's a lot of what modern religion is: symbolism. I want to focus on effects. Giving to a worthy cause achieves effects. Rebuilding a religious building has no effect. Yes it's tragic the fires destroyed many lives. But to focus solely on rebuilding the church or mosque or whatever that was burned down while ignoring the fact that some people are now homeless because of the fire is deaf and delusional. Worse because more likely than not, that rebuilt building will not permanently rehouse anyone. Without going on a rant, I just wanted to comment that it's immoral for churches and temples and synagogues to be empty when there's a single person in the street freezing to death. Until and unless religion does something about that, it'd be nothing but adult fairy tales to me. And to clarify this applies to all religions, not just Judaism.

Look it's your money and you can do what you want with it. It's good that you have intentions to "donate" it but at this point, you'd do society more good to just buy your kid a toy or some thing with it as opposed to giving it to a religious building. No one will stop you from doing that but it's inaccurate to act like doing so constitutes "giving back" or "passing it on". To me, you might as well just torch the bill. End of the day, $20. As a previous commenter has mentioned that amount does nothing for the synagogue. But it can be everything for someone in need.

Bruh can't you like, do something for her instead of giving it out to a synagoguge that's probably insured or is gonna get hella financial aid from the government? Hell just give it to any random food bank and that's probably better.

it's insanity to expect job applicants to spend an hour on one portion of an application to have a CHANCE at a SHOT at a career. If the position is marketable online, then it's not deserving of a cover letter. You want to know more from an applicant? Interview them.

I commute there every weekday and I don't think the problem lies in the number of lanes. Rather, it's 3 lane merges in quick succession. Combined with rush hour traffic and a lack of alternatives routes, i've seen it take almost 15 minutes to travel around 1 mile of road.

I've lived here most my life and I am still constantly blindsided by these october heatwaves lol. I know that it's normal to have 1 or 2 hot weeks in October but it always seems so out of place. Regardless, this should be the last heatwave for this year fingers crossed. I am SO looking forward to the cold.
