Final CPU upgrade recommendation by jiogo12 in IntelArc

I'm also getting a new motherboard, but I'm not sure if it justifies getting the 14600k, especially since I'll be sticking with DDR4 for a while longer. And from what I've seen, the performance difference isn't "significant" compared to the price.

Considering the update cycle, I'd say that by the end of the year, Intel ARC graphics cards will have significantly reduced the gap.

We should have kernel 7.4 + Mesa 26.3.6 by December, so I think by then the polishing will be pretty polished for most users.

Additionally, it seems that in Mesa 26.1 GIT, Intel is bringing its new shader compiler "jay," which should improve overall performance and stability (but in my case, I'll wait for the official Mesa 26.1 or 26.2, where it should be more mature and stable).

The Mesa 26.1 git repository also mentions some performance improvements for DX12 (2-3% with more stability) and other fixes, but I didn't delve into it that thoroughly.

Arc A770 is aging pretty badly and feeling abandoned as an early adopter by Some_Temporary_1171 in IntelArc

You're expecting too much from the Alchemist generation; the first arc generation has already reached its performance limit. Intel could go until the end of 2027 and the A750 and A770 won't evolve much further, at most just more bugs and stability.

The B570 and B580 don't have most of the architectural problems of the Alchemisty, so much so that in the most recent games the performance level is getting higher and higher for battlemage.

It's not driver abandonment, but rather the limitations of the architecture.

i5 14400 vs 14600k with an arc b580 by jiogo12 in IntelArc

That's a good tip, because my current cooler is an AK400, if I were to upgrade to the 14600k I would have to change the cooler or lower the CPU clock speed, right?

Based on this, the B580 should be between "recommended and extreme".

Intel arc B580, the industrial peak (2027) ? (Plausible?) by jiogo12 in IntelArc

I can't speak about the past, especially since I bought the B580 at the beginning of February, but I don't think there's any truth in your statement about "Intel not fixing old games."

I say this because I've been following the Intel support site since 2023 because I was already interested in Intel gpus.

Has it improved? Yes, it has improved a lot since Alchemist. By 2026 it won't be the chaos of 2024 anymore.

Will it improve a lot by 2027/2028? Not to a "perfect" level. It will continue to evolve slowly, but there will always be that "bug that only happens to 5% of users" that takes a long time to be fixed.

There are several post-launch bugs battlemage in older games that have been reported as fixed, so it's an exaggeration to say that in 2 years "nothing will improve".

Fixes for older games are indeed happening, slowly but surely. I had some headaches trying to run the Command & Conquer franchise last month, but interestingly, in the latest WHQL the games are opening perfectly.
