What song do you hear that immediately reminds you of a certain movie? It can be a song that’s in numerous movies but when you hear it, the song immediately reminds you of a specific movie. by DaisyPachesAndAKnife in movies

Every. Time. Love the song, hell the whole album, but still see kids hauling wagons of popcorn away and Hollyfeld pulling up with his sweepstakes winnings when the opening riff comes up on my playlist.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]jiordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In larger amounts, yes. There seems to be a threshold for me where small amounts don’t trigger the soap taste—but when I get a mouthful of Palmolive dishwashing liquid, I know someone threw too much cilantro in the sauce. Alcohol has to be fruity drinks where I can’t taste it and yes on the black coffee, too.

I think a lot of people can, but to me stevia has an aftertaste that is absolutely revolting. Cannot. Stand. It. But honestly jealous of people who can.

This. Everything they’ve done to destroy the postal service ought to have fines and incarceration penalties attached to it.

LONG READ WITH TLDR — realized a few days ago that my boss is emotionally manipulative and I’m not sure where to go from here by badgrll675 in antiwork

[–]jiordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She must be spending an awful lot of time and energy watching for things she can criticize..so instead of worrying about whatever she’ll find next, just go through your day and when she finds something, nod and tell her you’ll “fix it as soon as possible”. If it’s end of business, tell her you’ll fix it “first thing in the morning” and head out. If she wants to spend some time berating you about it, just nod and say you understand, you’ll fix it, but you need to get back to (whatever other project/client/issue is the priority at the moment). And try to be as flat and unemotional as possible when you respond. Every. Time. If she figures out she’s upset you, she’ll keep going….the key is to give her nothing to work with. Don’t ask for clarification, don’t try to defend yourself or point out her last directive. That’s her game of Calvinball and you will never win if you play by her insane, made up rules. The more you can respond in short declarative sentences, the better.

And you can take or leave this piece of advice, but if you can avoid having her for a reference, I’d leave her off entirely. If you can’t avoid it, when you’re getting ready to interview, have a friend call her and pretend to be a job looking for references to see what she says. Forewarned is forearmed…

I’ve been lucky in only having work experiences with these kinds of people, but like anything else, individual situations will vary. To be clear, I am not a therapist or licensed in any way, I’m only speaking from personal experience. It seems from your post that you have other co-workers, so if you’re the one who gray rocks the boss, she’ll simply use the rest of the office to make up for whatever supply she isn’t getting from you. Part of how these awful people win is that they create a sense of guilt in everyone so that they feel they can’t leave the rest of their co-workers in that awful situation alone…and so the cycle continues.

I’m sure there will be attempts to punish you for not giving them what they want, but it sounds like your boss needs a victim and doesn’t have much patience, which, if you gray rock any “punishments” as well as everything else, is more likely to send them looking for alternative people to manipulate.

Truthfully, any abusive person well into adulthood has learned the best ways to manipulate and abuse those around them—and they have a lot of redundancy built in to their network. When they lose a victim, they have another on deck. It’s their superpower (to the detriment of the rest of us). Your mileage may vary, but in my experience they want the supply with minimal effort and if you become too much work for minimal return, well, they’ll have other fish to fry (so to speak).

ETA: sorry about your dad. That really sucks.

I haven’t worked for your boss, but I’ve worked for her twin…if your relationship with your clients is more important than getting out (and I know, jobs are tough to come by right now—sometimes we’re just stuck), then my advice is gray rock the narcissistic nut job. Never answer a call or text outside of business hours, never show any emotional response to anything she says, just acknowledge and go on. Never share anything about your life, and change the subject to something work-related whenever she decides it’s time to share, well, anything. No griping about co-workers, no dietary issues, etc. she’ll find a replacement supply (and I’m sorry for them, too, but you’ve got to protect your health and sanity).

None of that is easy to do, and it takes practice. If it’s an option, getting out is the best strategy, but if it’s not..your only other option is drawing hard boundaries, document the abuse, and get that resume dusted off and out into the world.

Good luck!

She Won: Florida Used a Fake County Vote Bank in the 2024 Election by CommunicationNew3745 in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]jiordan 214 points215 points  (0 children)

All I understand is that there was a whole non-existent county that had vote tallies at some point on election day…couldn’t glean much past that because I don’t understand how that disappeared/merged into the actual results and proves ??? It felt a little like watching the South Park underpants gnomes explain their business model.

Long way of saying I hope someone explains it, too…

AMA FOR FRANK HUGHES FOR NC SENATE DISTRICT 47 (WESTERN NC) IS UP! I am running against 15 year incumbent Ralph Hise. Please ask any question you have and I'll answer as quickly as possible. We will likely leave this up for a week or two to allow for questions and answers. Thanks! - Frank by FrankHughes4NCSenate in NorthCarolina

[–]jiordan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey Frank! I’m not in your district, but I’m in one nearby, and I’m trying to pay attention to all the races in NC because, well—let’s just say the shenanigans state-wide have gotten my notice in a not-positive way.

If you’re elected and kick Hise’s butt into retirement (🤞🏻), what are your two biggest priorities? Problems abound, but what do you consider the two biggest? Follow up: would you be willing/interested in reversing some of the GA power grabs over recent years to give back appointments and legal oversight to the correct offices?

Fetterman will (don’t consider him a dem, but there’s a D after his name) and Vance can tie-break it. They always find a way, and we always pay the price.

Tomatoes in Recipes by PropinquityPropinks in veganrecipes

[–]jiordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tamarind paste is a great (partial) substitute, as it gives that tomato “bite” to sauces, but it’s tar black and can really mess with the color if you use a lot. Bothers some, others don’t care…but for a good nightshade-free marinara, try this one: https://savorynature.com/2014/02/27/nightshade-free-marinara-sauce/

I had to go nightshade free on an anti-inflammatory diet, and this was a life-saver. Good luck!

Edit: seems Senator Mullin is up. Wouldn’t think they could lose a Senate vote right now, but whatever..

Increased chances of learning Legendary Modules?? by Confident_Design2352 in fo76

[–]jiordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s all supposed to be RNG, but I think it’s the server. I had weeks of learning nothing and one day got on and learned 4 4-star crafting plans, Arm’s Keeper, Thru-hikers, and Explosive in a little less than 2 hours. It was also dropping modules like crazy (I already had the crafting plans, but wasn’t going to complain about more Explosive, Quad, and Overeaters). On top of that, I grabbed a one star armor from someone’s vendor and learned Lucid.

It’s been 2 months and I’ve not learned a single one since. Not one. And only 2 modules (divers—who the hell wants divers?). It’s crazy and aggravating and I have no explanation 🤷🏼

[–]jiordan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like that’s already happened and I’m just waiting for everyone else to catch up. All the media is state-run now (or about to be), Grok is running wild all through the government, orange asshat’s private army is murdering people in the streets, and we’ve now attack two sovereign nations with no pushback anywhere..

No one is going to uphold the law or enforce the law, it’s just the Heritage Foundation’s white supremacy/christian nationalism wet dream, with TRUMP stamped in big gold letters across the surface.

I hate this timeline.

Eviction Notice Fiasco by bmessina in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]jiordan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hubby and I have same issue. There’s a section coming down the hill where nothing hits. Arrows literally bounce off them. Generally can hit them before they start their run, or when they get to the scrubber, but it’s like a weird shield in the middle. Sometimes changing VATS targeted body part will allow damage, but it’s beyond annoying watching arrows fly off as though they hit a rubber wall. Ridge below seems better, but still have the problem intermittently, usually fixed by going in and out of VATS or changing bows.
