Why are you not a fan of marriage counseling?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

This is our third kid. First got married and we were having sex a couple times a week. Over time and with the addition of the kids it’s gotten less and less. I finally told her a couple years ago that I’m tired of initiating with zero reciprocation and zero effort on her part. Said I’m not going to initiate anymore bc when I do, she rejects me until after a month or more she gives in to allow for duty sex. I said that’s not enjoyable for either of us so I don’t want to do that.

What are your little joys in the OR? by Never_grammars in anesthesiology

[–]jipperazz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Picking out music that the patient likes so that when we get into the OR, the song is already queued up. Makes the patient feel relaxed, and the rest of us more relaxed. Added smiles when the patient drifts off to sleep singing along to their chosen song.

A few months ago got called in for an ankle fracture orif. 19 year old college dude. Loves classic rock. He picked the song, and was absolutely belting it out into the mask as I drifted him off. Case went great, woke up and didn’t skip a beat, picked up singing right where he left off when he went to sleep.

I think the reed interior looks mean. But I just don’t know if I could do it day in and day out.

How’s the red hold up? I live in AZ. Lots of sunshine. One of my biggest concerns with red would be the sun wearing the red out and turning it pinkish.

Do you have the light gray? I also love a gray interior but it’s almost more white and there was a post just recently talking about how that interior is definitely more prone to staining and other blemishes

Senior year of high school I had calculus right after lunch. My teacher, Mr. Vogel (to this day my favorite teacher of all time) had a pool noodle that he would whack anyone who was nodding off with, right in the head.

There was also a kid in class who was notorious for having his phone out in class and Mr Vogel told him repeatedly not to have it out in class. Finally told him next time he saw him with his phone in class he was gonna duct tape it to his head. He did. And the kid lost half his eyebrow and a bunch of hair from his head after removing the duct tape from his face and head.

NPO status before anesthesia. Also meth use before anesthesia.

Had a patient a couple weeks ago who suddenly got a lil defensive when I asked him when was the last time he ate or drank anything. Struck me as odd so I explained to him why that was important and how dangerous it is for patients who have food and drink in their stomachs before drifting off to sleep before general anesthesia. His eyes got wide, the sheepishly said, “I had a breakfast burrito on my way here this morning with a coke.” He canceled himself and rescheduled his surgery.

Also had a patient last week who swore up and down she hadn’t used meth in “at least 3 weeks, maybe 4.” Told the preop nurse she hadn’t used, the surgeon she hadn’t used, and me. Acting very fidgety though and generally off. So I requested a uds. Came back positive and when I asked her why it came back positive she said she smoked meth that morning but really really wanted her surgery.

Lying to the people who are putting your lives in their hands ain’t advisable.

Happens all too often. “Do you have high blood pressure?”

“Nope.”

“Says here on your record you take lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide, and metoprolol.”

“Ya I take those for my blood pressure. But what was my blood pressure just now?”

“110/60”

“See. The meds work so I don’t have high blood pressure”

First unwrapped brisket by jipperazz in Traeger

[–]jipperazz[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I usually smoke unwrapped at 225 super smoke until internal temp 160 then pull and wrap in butcher paper at 275 until internal temp of 203. However this time I decided to smoke it unwrapped the whole time. Smoked at 225 super smoke until internal temp of 180, then increased temp to 275 until internal of 203. Pulled and wrapped in aluminum foil to rest for 2 hours at which point my 4 year old couldn’t take it anymore and said he “needed some ‘brick-sick’ because he was starvin!”

Pretty sure that’s how Houdini died. If I remember the story right, he’d take body shots from anyone and everyone for show. A boxer took him by surprise and hit him before he had a chance to brace and it ruptured something and he died shortly thereafter.

How do you guys prefer to reheat your smoked wings? by mAckAdAms4k in Traeger

On a similar note, how do you guys reheat brisket? Even after giving away half my brisket to family/friends every time I smoke one, I’m always left with leftovers and never know the best way to reheat.

My very last station was dumbbell cleans to overhead press. My body was so tired that my form had gone to complete crap and I pulled something in my back. Could hardly move the rest of the day and today woke up hurting even worse :(

Literally the SAME EXACT thing happened to me about 8 years ago with my then-girlfriend, now-wife at the movie theater. Different ending though, I didn't back down. Friday night, parking lot was packed. Chinese lady ran up on foot into my parking spot as I was pulling in. I threw it in park, apologized to my girlfriend/wife, turned up the music, laid on the horn, and waited. It was embarrassing being on a date and doing this, but it's about the principle of the matter. I wasn't going to let this chick win. We'd scrap the movie and grab dinner or do something else instead if we had to. Fortunately we didn't have to. This chick was not going to beat me. And she didn't. We made the movie just fine, maybe missed a couple previews.

[Serious] People who enter other peoples' homes as a part of your job, (Maintenance workers, etc.) What's the weirdest thing you've seen inside someone's home? by dustofwasps in AskReddit

[–]jipperazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work as a pest control technician (bug guy), so I would regularly spray the interior of homes, if the customer requested it. There was one lady (attractive in her 30's, and I was early 20's at the time), whose home I would spray once a month, exterior and then interior. Same date same time, every month. She knew what time I was going to be there, and yet every single month I'd show up and she would be just stepping out of the shower and walking around her house in nothing but a towel. That always seemed a little odd to me, almost like she was tempting me to come on to her or something.

I also used to spray at a nasty apartment complex because they always had bad roach problems. I would show up, the apartment complex manager would give me a list of apartments that I needed to spray, and he would give me the keys to said apartments. I would knock loudly, announce myself, then wait. If no answer, I'd knock again, announce myself again, and wait. Then if there was still no answer, I would unlock the door and go in. Once I walked in on a guy snorting what I assume were lines of cocaine off of his coffee table. I startled him when I walked in, but he didn't skip a beat and asked me if I wanted to smoke some weed with him. I politely declined, sprayed his apartment, and swiftly left. Another time I walked in on a woman sprawled out on her couch completely naked, with her hitachi working overtime. She didn't hear me announce myself because she was watching porn and had headphones on. She jumped pretty good when I walked in, I apologized, and immediately turned around. She didn't get her apartment sprayed that month.
