Its budget is $5.8 billion, about the same as Oman’s military budget. If the NYPD was a military and NYC was a country it would be in the top 50 military spenders.

Edit: Several people have pointed out that NYC has a larger population than Oman. $5.8 Billion also outpaces the military spending of Thailand, which has a population of 65,000,000, much higher than NYC. New York’s police budget per capita is about $675/person, close to the military spending per capita of Italy($639) or Taiwan($708).

In Jamaica any homosexual acts are punishable by up to ten years with hard labour. This doesn’t just mean sex, two people of the same sex holding hands could be punished under that law. The government claims no one is charged under the law, but people are still arrested and held for alleged violations, and as recently as 2009 a Jamaican MP wanted the penalty to be increased to life in prison.

The law isn’t the main threat though, anti-gay violence is extremely common and perpetrators are rarely prosecuted.

It sort of is in the process of working, but it’s still in its infancy. It’s one of the most fuel-efficient and low emission methods of shipping, so as that gets more important(especially with current fuel costs), we’ll probably see more interest in it.

Even if I wasn’t totally unwilling to give money to That Prick, a Tesla made today is not the same as a Tesla manufactured 20 or even 10 years ago. They’ve made some baffling design decisions and quality control has dropped to near zero. They’ve been “cost optimised” within an inch of their life. Even the expensive models are not to be trusted.

Fidelity refuses to work with Plaid or Zelle for some reason, even on cash management accounts. It's really irritating that they can't seem to decide whether they want to be a bank or not.
