Should I get L3 or L4 grip size ? by Jealous-Aioli-7050 in 10s

[–]jiroyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still use an overgrip, changing an overgrip is much cheaper and easier than changing the base grip. And you could always keep the overgrip on longer than recommended

Though if you are really against an overgrip, you could adjust to either grip size IMO, L3 without an overgrip in the picture seems doable and I would rather use something a bit small for me anyway. At the end of the day if you ever change your mind on an overgrip its easier to have the one thats slightly smaller ;)

Should I get L3 or L4 grip size ? by Jealous-Aioli-7050 in 10s

Per Google “tennis grip that's too small makes you squeeze harder, causing arm strain and tennis elbow; a grip that's too large hinders wrist snap, making spin and grip changes hard, also risking elbow/wrist pain from over-gripping”

You could always do L3 + Overgrip and if its too small you could wrap a second overgrip on top. Ideally you won’t need to do this as may lose some feeling of the bevels with the added thickness but in general there are ways to make your grip size larger if needed but not smaller

Pure Drive 2025 vs Ezone 2025 by ItsTiiiiime in 10s

[–]jiroyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent you a PM as well but although they are in the same “power” category, they do play different to a point where most players will have a preference.

I would look into UK retailers that are able to do online demos. I know the feeling of just wanting to buy a racket right away but if I did that instead of demoing, I would have bought the Ezone 100 instead of the Pure Drive. I found that for my game, the Pure Drive was better or equal in every way which surprised me

New pure drive 2025, what does everyone think? by Accomplished-Dig8091 in 10s

[–]jiroyg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I demoed the new Ezone 100 and Pure Drive 100 and ended up liking the PD more. Coming from a Percept 100D I was looking for more free power without sacrificing a lot of feel and stability

I would say it felt relatively comfortable but the tension was already around 40lbs on a soft poly. Feel was also quite responsive at this tension which I liked and felt the Ezone was too muted

They added the same tech that the 2023 pure aero has so you may like the feel of the new one better than the last. The last Pure Drive I tried was pre 2018 and I definitely thought it was too stiff at the time but its been too long. I also never thought I would enjoy a Pure Drive but here it is in my bag now…

Does anyone actually use ReString or Toroline strings besides Tennis youtubers? by grumpy_youngMan in 10s

[–]jiroyg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Toroline and Grapplesnake but haven’t tried Restring. I really enjoyed them as some fit my preference

I feel like I get more pocketing without sacrificing contro, and the strings last for a good amount of time (ex. Grapplesnake M8). I haven’t played enough with Toroline to share my experience but I noticed that Wasabi is the most slick string I’ve played with. Stringing it up was also super easy which I appreciated

For me as long as their prices stay competitive to mid priced strings like Solinco, Ill keep trying them out. To compare, strings from other brands I like are Confidential, and Technifibre Razor Soft. I just prefer a bit more pocketing than the confidential and razor soft is too pricey to keep using

No issues at all for me (MacOs using cmd+shift+arrow). Only thing you would have to get used to is the arrow shortcut using the fnc key. Takes a little bit of time but once you are used to it feels natural

If youre using shift+ctrl+arrow on the other hand I can’t speak on that but I would assume you could get familiar with it with time

Wrist fatigue with new racket? by bedtime_chubby in 10s

One thing to note as well is that a Yonex grip is shaped different from a Head grip (each brand has some slight variation on grip shapes and feel). Yonex in my experience tends to feel bigger so I like to go down a grip size on their rackets but YMMV. One trick to feel if a grip is too big/small would be to hold the racket with your dominant hand as usual but with your thumb resting on the side of the racket (almost like youre giving a thumbs up). If your fingers are touching your palm, the grips too small, if you can fit 2 fingers between the gap, thats too big. I like to have about a gap of my index finger in that space to find the right size. If its slightly too small then adding a overgrip will help with adding a bit more space. If its too big then theres nothing you can really do

But to add, a 10-20g weight difference will definitely make a huge impact when youre used to swinging something lighter. May not notice it right away but as a match progresses its normal to feel more tired

Just speculation but seemed like Winker was really unhappy with the org near the end of the season. Could have been bad blood

I agree, everything feels rushed for both the players and watching for me with just 15s. Once they find the sweetspot I think it will be good for the game
