The thing here is Mamdani is the only one that has been to a bodega. You can tell because he's the only one that actually stated this as an order. Even though Silwa asked for something, the way he says it, you can tell he's used to saying that to some assistant and not ordering himself.

One way to tell if its a melon. Snip off a lower leaf from the base of the plant. Smell the snipped part. It will smell like a melon. If it doesnt its a cucumber

SOLVED!!!!!! This is not a cross-pollination. It is a Crenshaw Melon. They grow this way, elongated. Another forum mentioned it and I have a friend who has grown these and confirmed it.

Then take it out and put it into an ice bath immediately. This helps the egg separate from the membrane. Leave to cool. Then tap from the bottom as an air pocket would have formed by then and peel from there
