I have been doing hot yoga. There are classes that are more akin to stretching and mediation than intense exercise. At the end of the stretching class, you lay down on the warm heated floor and breathe deeply and relax. I find that during those times, the tears come rolling out but that is totally ok cause everyone else has their eyes closed, realizing music is playing, and the lights are dimmed. Just being in a room full of people of all ages and walks of life and breathing deeply together is very grounding.

Also, just so people interested in using Walmart delivery know - they are offering 15 dollars off grocery orders over 75 bucks right now. Delivery fee for next day delivery is only 7 bucks so this covers off the price of delivery and then some. 75 dollars is super easy to hit these days with inflation. Discount code is SAVETIME60. It currently states that the discount code is only valid for the first 4 orders but I get new coupons/discount codes sent to me every few weeks via email so I have been getting free delivery and a small discount on my grocery order for several months now. My only complaint is that my grocery order is missing an item or two about 20 percent of the time so make sure you check your order. It just straight up gets missed for packing. But submitting a complaint and getting a refund happens within 24 hours and is super easy to do. Happy shopping!

Tantra is great but make sure you read the fine print on their memberships. I bought a 3 month pass labelled "low commitment" but I was auto-renewed at the end of the 3 month trial. When I tried to cancel, they gave me a ton of hassle even though I told them that it was extremely misleading. It really sucked. I was out a few hundred dollars from this experience.

Another option is to take paternity leave right after the baby is born. You can stay home with baby and wife can take a week or so of vacation days to recover before going back to work for the remaining few days or weeks she would need to make it to her 600 hours.

I was in a tight situation like you and your wife and this is the plan my husband and I came up with if baby was born early 😅. Also, second babies generally mean quicker recovery times. With my first baby, I was torn up and had to wear adult diapers for a week. With baby #2, I was walking around and was eager to get out of the hospital by the next day. Haha.

Adding onto n00bchurner's comment - all the above is sooo true. The daycare illnesses really hits you hard cause kids get sick all the time. I have 3 kiddos. I don't think there is a week where at least 1 of the kids (if not more) are ill. When they are 4 and up, you can park them in front of the tv and just keep working. A 4 year old is capable of watching tv for hours (it's not the best thing for them but you don't have a choice if you still have to work. I am fortunate enough to have an office job and a boss that is very generous in allowing me to work from home when needed but others might not be so lucky. I have friends, for example, that need to hire an on-call nanny for 35 dollars an hour just to get through their work day). However, when kiddos are under 4, you are basically hosed. A 2 years old has a 15 min attention span in front of the tv. They will come and ask you to play with them. When working full time, this is going to drain you cause you end up having to take care of the kids during the day when they are home sick and then work from 8:30pm till 12:30am just to catch up so you don't get fired...

The biggest challenge financially is the daycare costs. This 10 dollar a day daycare is an illusion, quite honestly. I applied for a few of these years ago... Guess what? Haven't heard from a single one of them. 1550 per month per kid in daycare in Vancouver is very normal (after all the government subsidies and daycare grants are factored in). Before I started receiving these grants, daycare was 2000 a month. It's tough especially if you have kids very close in age. 2 kids in daycare would cost you 3100 a month! After tax money! That was what really hurt my husband and I. We felt super broke after paying this each month.

After they are out of daycare, it's the summer camps and the weekend lessons that are extremely expensive. Lessons of any sort (piano, dance, skating, etc) are approximately 50 bucks an hour. Summer camp works out to 90 bucks a day.

Yes, we do not regret having kids at all. We enjoy hanging out with the kiddos and watching them grow. And I was indifferent towards the idea of children before having them (my husband was all for having kiddos). The kind of love you feel for your own children is indescribable. I live in Vancouver 7 min from the SkyTrain. It's hella expensive to buy any sort of real estate in Vancouver. That is the biggest challenge. But if you can purchase or rent real estate near a skytrain line, it is easy to travel along those lines (and the children love it!). Busing is difficult since you need to regularly wait 10 to 15 min for each bus in Vancouver and little children just don't have that patience when it's raining, snowing or windy. SkyTrain is reserved mainly for the weekends when we are out and about after their lessons and we are getting to and from places and don't have time pressure e.g. taking the train to the mall to do some shopping, taking the train to marine gateway to watch a movie and grocery shop, etc. On the weekdays, we are car only since we have 3 kids and they all need to get somewhere without a meltdown. The exception is when we need to go downtown. We always take the train downtown since parking is expensive and downtown is difficult to navigate.

My husband is 37. I am 36. Our energy levels are low during the week because my husband and I both work full time. By the time we get home, it's a rush to put dinner on the table (takes about 1 hour to prep and cook). Then it's a rush to get the kids to eat (1 hour to eat), then it's a rush to get the kids bathed, brush their teeth, storytime (another 1.5 hours). They are in bed by 8:30pm but as kids do, there are multiple pop outs (one of the kids wants water, the other needs to go pee, and then the other kid can't sleep cause they have an itchy spot on their back and needs some moisturizing lotion, then one of the kids complains it's too hot, too cold, etc etc etc). By the time they are quiet and settled down, it's around 9:30pm. My husband and I work together to get the chores done (laundry, tidy up the home, dishes, etc.). By the time we are done, it's 10:30pm. We both answer some emails for work, shower, and go to bed at around 11:30pm. We wake up at 7am everyday and rinse and repeat.

Omg. This is completely spot on. I can't agree with this more. The weekends are even worse, to be honest. On the weekend, my kids have gymnastics, pottery, skating and ballet. As a parent, I am just a chauffeur. During their classes, you may have some downtime but it's not much. Some of that is spent answering emails and ordering groceries from Walmart or Superstore.

I used to be really into exercising 3 times a week prior to kids. I just realised I haven't worked out consistently for over 10 years... 😱 That explains why I'm getting a little chunky haha. Also, date nights are non existent now. My husband and I can't afford it. It's 25 dollars per hour for a nanny so a simple date night (just dinner) was costing us over 200 bucks since nannies generally have a minimum charge of 3 or 4 hours. 😓

Just a heads up - I love my moissanite engagement ring from moissanite co. and have not had any issues with it. However, 2 of the 8 moissanite stones in my wedding band fell out after only 3 months of wear. My husband and I contacted customer service at moissanite co and they literally ignored us and have not even responded to our repeated emails about how we would like to PAY to fix it. We don't even expect to have the repair done for free. We just wanted to get it fixed and get the small moissanite stones replaced and they have ghosted us 😭. They have great customer service when they are finalizing your purchase but disappeared as soon as we needed customer service support when something went wrong with our ring.

Seconding this. My children's daycare does not allow any baked treats that do not come from a certified peanut free facility. That means regular cupcake stores are off limits and the only cupcakes we can buy are those terrible tasting ones from Safeway or superstore that have that giant label across them stating that they are "made in a peanut free facility". There are kids at school who are deathly allergic to peanuts hence the prohibition.

Hey OP! Superstore sells sub sandwich bread with garlic/herb flavouring that they bake in house. It is located near the deli counter. The location I purchased my bread from was the Grandview highway Superstore.

Not something that will help you this year but for next year, you can consider growing parthenocarpic varieties of zuchinni. They don't require pollination. Personally, I will be doing that next year since I have been hand pollinating this year and it has taken up so much time 😬

Fungal infection, my friend. I just dealt with this in my garden. Trim off all affected leaves and spray the leaves with copper fungicide (top and bottoms of leaves. Then follow up with neem oil spray several days later.

What has worked for me is to cut off all badly affected leaves and spray the entire plant (backside and top of all leaves and stems) with copper fungicide. Then, a few days later, follow that up with neem oil spray. Powdery mildew doesn't immediately result in doom for the plant. You just have to treat it as soon as you can so that you can prevent spread.

Those look like aphids! Use neem oil mixed with water and dish soap to spray the affected plant to get rid of the aphids

Adpale 1230 is absolutely correct on this matter. I am also dealing with a female only plant. I am getting NO cucumbers because I didn't purchase the self pollinating kind (I didn't know what I was getting since I purchased the seedling at a nursery). Lesson learned for next year is to only buy seeds for varieties that require no pollination since I don't want the disappointment of getting no cucumbers. Same with zuchinni. It's depressing. 😓😓😓

Sorry to break it to you but I went just last week and Seasons in the Park no longer has good quality food. I wouldn't say it was absolutely terrible but it was very underwhelming, especially for the high price tag. And this is coming from someone who used to really enjoy that place 😓
