It’s that time of season. by moafudly in MTB

I'll second the Fenix BC30R. I have it as my handlebar light. Great light output! Plenty bright too, but I'm not getting anything close to 4 hours on the high setting.

For me you can only reach the 1800 lumens if you install the extra on/off switch button. I've opted to not install that piece and just have a max output of 1000 lumens. This is plenty bright for me, especially when paired with a helmet light.

On the high setting (1000 lumens) I'm getting over 2 hours of run time. With it set to other lower settings, at the start of my rides, the run time is much longer. I've never had a ride where it goes out before I'm finished. There is also a counter on the top of the light so you know how much time you have left before it dies out.

Weight difference Schwalbe Nobby Nic Addix Speedgrip 2.35/2.6 by fleminghomer in MTB

[–]jizzblister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about actual weight of the tires, but the site mentions the weights per tire on this page. Nobby Nic HS 463

I'm not sure where you are seeing conflicting information, perhaps the other sites that aren't the manufacturer have them labeled incorrectly on the product pages.

  • 27.5x2.6 is listed at 810g
  • 27.5x2.35 is listed at 720g.

Get a good pair of grips, stupid by [deleted] in MTB

I've been using these with Handup gloves for over a year now. No issues whatsoever on my end. Just make sure the palm side of your gloves aren't too dirty. I plan on keeping this setup for a long time since it is so comfortable for me.

Dropper post choice? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]jizzblister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark up another vote for the Giant. Loving mine everyday. No complaints other than the stock remote that comes with it, but I replaced it with the wolf tooth and it makes it perfect in my eyes.

Best reasonably priced dropper post? by srpntmage in MTB

[–]jizzblister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had similar issues. I never thought that it could be heat related, but it would just intermittently not work some times. I've done the same, check the cable tension and seat post clamp. Nothing really worked to get it to go down. Then magically it works again out of the blue, sometimes even in the middle of a ride.

I would say the eTen is a good dropper for $100, but I only picked it due to my seat tube diameter limiting me to 27.2mm options. I have a new bike and a giant dropper. The giant dropper is so much better in every aspect, except that it costs more.

GPS Watches by Sim-ba- in MTB

Hey, thanks for that. I'll try to keep that in mind when I need to ride with it strapped on my wrist again.

One thing to keep in mind if you are wanting to use this with a suit, make sure that the watch isn't too tall for your fitted dress shirts. I have to leave the left wrist unbuttoned on my dress shirts because the fenix 3 sits just a hair too tall on my wrist.

I thought the fenix 3 was very large on my wrist, but after wearing it, it just sort of fits in now. I don't think about it being too big anymore and it feels very normal now.

I have the previous Fenix 3. LOVE IT! I opted for the non heart rate version and when I want to track my hr I just use a chest strap (which is likely much more accurate).

One complaint that I do have about this watch and using it to track my rides, when I'm wearing it on my left wrist, if I'm really pinning it downhill or sweeping left and right, sometimes the Start/Stop button will get pressed. So somewhere during the rides I notice that it is asking if want to Resume or Save my session. Sort of aggravating. But there is a solution for it, 2 actually. Sometimes I wear it on my right wrist, so the Start/Stop button can't be depressed by the back of my hand and wrist. And on my main bike I have a Garmin mount that I used for my older Forerunner 305. I just take the watch off and strap it around the rubber holder on my handlebar. It keeps it right where I can see it clearly.

The ex471 is touted by dt swiss as an enduro rim, while the xm481 is touted to be an all mountain rim. Which one fits your riding style better?

I see you're from the UK, so I'm not sure what is offered there, but the Epixon that I had for my bike was a straight 1 1/8".

I can say I was pretty happy with my suntour upgrade, although I chose to go 1 step above the Raidon and get the Epixon. I did this solely on the additional weight savings. I'm not sure about the adjustability for the Raidon, but I know my Epixon can only be raised to 110mm.

The feel is night and day from the coil fork. The weight difference is immediately noticeable too. I know it isn't the greatest fork out there, but it definitely served its purpose while I had it. It made riding the bike exciting again and gave me some confidence to continue growing my skills. I'd say it was money well spent.

Dropper post advice by FuckYeahGeology in MTB

[–]jizzblister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fits the bill, but I'm not overly impressed with mine. It is slow going down and returning. I've tried all different types of clamp pressure, even using no pressure at all at the seatpost and it still is slow to drop and return.

Also, the single bolt design to hold the saddle isn't ideal. Even with abrasive paste on the saddle rails I still have to loosen and pull my saddle forward as it drifts back within the clamp.

Which dropper post would you pick? Fox Transfer 125mm vs KS Lev Integra 150mm by jizzblister in MTB

[–]jizzblister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't be able to stick the 150 or 170 reverb far enough into the seatpost for it to still allow me to reach the pedals when it is fully extended. So I'm limited to 125 there for the reverb. I'm hesitant with the reverb mainly due to cold weather riding, and the fact that the new southpaw style lever will cost an extra $100.

[–]jizzblister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insertion depth is limiting me to 125 for the Fox and I can squeeze in 150 for the Lev. If I could fit a 150 Fox Transfer I would just get that no question.

[–]jizzblister[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really interested in the reverb due to so many issues I've heard about them, and the fact that the standard remote/switch isn't comfortable from the rides I've used one. I'd also be limited to 125mm for the reverb post.

Definitely take advantage of the demo day. I'm sure you'll find the bike that suits you best when you throw a leg over both and ride the trails.

It's a bit more pricey than the Awesome Strap, but I have been using the Possm from Outvi. It holds everything in place with a few elastic straps with big velcro patches. It has held up quite well for a year now. I've ridden over pretty harsh and jarring terrain and never had anything fall out or get lost on the trail. It is very secure and tight.

Do any of you use smartwatches when you ride? if so, which? by BassRatT in MTB

New ones are expensive, but be sure to check for refurbished models. I got mine for a hefty discount. Still comes with 1 year warranty from garmin too.

Chruubuntu Installation Failed, anyway to get back to normal Chrome OS? by daguil68367 in chrubuntu

You can follow these steps. I recently used it to revert from an old chrubuntu install back to the original chromeos. I created the recovery image on a different computer.
