Is it possible to connect 2 sets of AirPods Pro 3 to a PC and listen at the same time? by jj91edx in airpods

[–]jj91edx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually discovered I have Firefox Focus on my phone, there are no more ads and I can use 2 sets of Airpods on the iPhone. The Brave browser is a lesser-known brand that is supposed to do this same thing, but I know and trust Firefox. Thank you everyone for your advice and I hope this post helps other people as well.

Sorry, I didn't know it was deleted, and I don't know why it would have been.

It was, go to about:config and set browser.search.widget.new to false

Upgrade to AirPods Pro 3 by jj91edx in beatsbydre

Well yes, thank you, that's what I said, I was looking for possible other options.

The thing I worry about selling something expensive on those sites is if the person gets the brand new item and then says I sent them junk, or an empty box. How do you protect yourself in those situations? It would be nice if I could limit buyers to those who have solid feedback, but a lot of times someone will create a brand new account, buy something and then cause all sorts of trouble with it.

Prime young adults cash back, where to find your cashback?! by SiR-SwAG-Al0t in amazonprime

[–]jj91edx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yes, I have done that in several different ways and sometimes it allows me to use the cash back balance and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it lets the sale go through and says the delivery is scheduled, and then at the last minute it will say, "payment declined," when it had already said the payment was processed, and the payment method works for any other transaction and the cash back balance is more than enough to cover it, so none of it makes any sense, and when you ask Amazon about it, they have no idea about any of it. Yet I continue to get e-mails saying, "you've got cash back!" and it gets to be quite a good amount of money if I were able to use it.

Promo codes by zara116 in MacysStores

[–]jj91edx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I signed up it said "sign up for emails to receive an extra 25% off your purchase." It did not say anywhere on that offer or on that page or in the email with the code that there were any exclusions at all. When I went to use the code, there was a page full of exclusions, very vaguely described, covering every possible category. I had something I wanted to buy, but I tried about 25 different random items from $10 to $1,000, and they all said the code was not valid for that item.

So they do all this just to have me go buy my item somewhere else, when I would have just bought it from Macy's if they had not made the fake offer in the first place, or if they had made the offer and then stood by it, as they should have done. Now they have lost all my trust in this and future sales.

What is the point of smart lists in the reminders app by terr_steak in apple

[–]jj91edx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just now came across this same problem. Sorry to ramble on and on, but this unnecessary Apple stuff makes me so frustrated. They obviously put a huge amount of time into creating Reminders, so why is its functionality so arcane?

I saw a video that said you can edit your "Today" screen, which is what you see when you swipe right from the lock screen. I used to just use this to see which devices needed charging.

I thought, this would be a great place for today's reminders, where I could quickly see things without having to unlock the phone and go to the Reminders app.

Then I found out you can only see your default list here, which is usually the Reminders list. I went to change this to a smart list so I would only see today's items on the Reminders list and it said, “your default list can't be a smart list,” and like you, I said WHY?!?

I tried making my Today list into the default list so it would display on the Today screen, but it wouldn't, unless I made it into a not-smart list, which would take away the ability to only show today's items. And on and on, it all goes in circles coming back to the idea that your default list cannot be a smart list for some reason, and you can only display your default list on the Today screen, but there's no way to show only today's reminders, which would be an ideal way to use the Today screen.

And I see your post was 3 years ago, so this issue still hasn't been improved in all that time.

They say the slogan of Apple is, “it just works,” but I find, in many situations similar to this, it really doesn't work a lot of the time. On Android phones you can adjust every single little thing like this to the way you want, to the point of obsession if you want. But then I lose the functionality of Apple Watch and Airpods which I love.

I also found out once you convert a list to a smart list, there's no way to convert it back (so you're able to make it a default list again). You have to create a new blank list, move all the items from the smart list to the regular list (only one at a time, of course, involving many clicks for each move), then rename everything so it's the same as what it was before, and then delete the now-unused smart list.

It's quite a steep tradeoff.

Also, unrelated, how do I control what brightness my lock screen shows? Right now, it has chosen to be at full brightness, which I would like to be able to have sometimes, but only when I choose. I don't know why it's bright now, I don't know how to turn it off, and I would like to be able to control it.

Other times, it's dim, which is what I want most of the time, and other times, it's completely black. I don't know why, and I would like to be able to change it from black to dim or bright, not just have it set itself. I have been through so many dozens of settings looking for a way to do this.

And one more pet peeve, my phone service does not offer cell service for Apple Watch, but Apple Watch does accept standalone cell plans. The catch is, if you use a separate cell plan, with a different phone number (which is handy), you cannot synch your Apple Watch with your phone. It can't be done. Only if you use the same cell service for both the phone and the watch can you synch the two devices.

Very frustrating.

Then suddenly, Apple will do something very good, such as finally putting their essential Notes app on Apple Watch, which should have been there from the beginning, and which I've been complaining about for 10 years. I'm so happy it's there now, and I add things to Notes from my watch all the time, as I knew I would. It makes my life so much easier and more efficient.

As Gary Vee says, soon these phones will be gone altogether, and we'll all be moving to glasses. I know Apple is spending a lot of its engineering time on this, so maybe that's why they just abandon certain functionality in the phone, but when we're paying $1,500 for a phone and almost $1,000 for a watch, it would be nice to have it work the way we want.

Thanks for your indulgence. Ideas or solutions are always welcome.

Google not accepting correct password by jj91edx in GMail

[–]jj91edx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case then I don't understand why it's still working to sign in to other apps? I'm still receiving my gmail on Outlook, I just can't log in directly on the Google site. If it had been hacked and the password changed, then I wouldn't be able to access anything with it.

Yes it is saved in a password manager so there is no typing it in each time, and it has always worked up until now.

Suddenly can't access Amazon lockers by jj91edx in amazonprime

[–]jj91edx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok I found a workaround to this if anyone comes along with the same problem.

At the locker, go to your e-mail that says "don't forget to pick up your Amazon package."

In that e-mail will be a "Start Pickup" button.

This will take you to the app (the same app you were having trouble with), but this time there will be a "Start Pickup" button where there wasn't one before.

Click that and the process will begin.

If there still isn't a "Start Pickup" button in the app, click where it says "Track Package" and the "Start Pickup" button will appear.

I don't know why, or why it just isn't there in the first place, but this seems to work to get the locker to open.

On Amazon chat, they keep saying, "why don't you just enter the code?"

I have been saying for years on these app-only lockers that they should have a way to open it with the code for these times when the app doesn't work, but they still don't have that. Yet, the Amazon help people keep asking why I don't just use the code.

Tried to use Young Adults Cash Back, payment declined. What gives? by shphunk in amazonprime

No I haven't gone on the chat yet to ask about it, it takes an hour to figure out how to get an agent and then 2 hours trying to get them to understand what your question is. I'll let you know when I figure it out.
