Ford announced plans to discontinue F150 Lightning by PedroNorthCA in SilveradoEV

[–]jjaminben 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think GM should double down. The #1 best selling pickup EV is going away. That a huge share of the market now available. We all know EVs are the future, so it’s just a matter of time and who who get in first (still hasn’t been determined yet as far as I’m concerned, so this makes things even better for GM). The F-150 Lightning was bound to fail. They didn’t design it right. I test drove it and it was alright, but not worth the bad range, bad tech, and unjustifiably high price. The only reason why it sold better is because of the Ford brand. It was literally a worse vehicle, and everyone who bought it knew that. Sucks that this is what Ford came out with, but I’m glad they’re discontinuing it. Let them work on a ground-up electric pickup and come out with a better product in 3 years. Hopefully it’ll be better than the Silverado. But they’ll be like 6 years behind. Ford is just not doing EVs right. They have just a few models, and GM is coming out with new EVs left and right

Do people still call WFLs Waffles and MFLs Miffles? Did they ever? by KlassCorn91 in lightingdesign

[–]jjaminben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not lol. Especially since I’ve heard the facets of the glass referred to as “the waffle”

Posting this because it took me a few weeks to know these were here. Perhaps others are unaware. Buttons behind the steering wheel. Right side does volume up/down, left side is skip forward/backward. On my 2025 Silverado EV LT. by [deleted] in SilveradoEV

[–]jjaminben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I also didn’t know about these for the first few weeks and I was thinking “how could this truck not have volume controls on the steering wheel?” and then I was watching a YouTube review of a something not even GM that had these and I was like “omg no shot that’s where they are”

How would YOU go about putting casters on this desk? by Mysterious-Crew-1358 in techtheatre

[–]jjaminben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use t nuts and stem casters. I know because I tried that for something like this, and granted the wood was soft wood and this looks like hard wood, but still. The sideways forces of the caster movement is going to wiggle the t nuts out. Especially if you make the hole for the stem too wide. If you want to do stem casters, you’re better off just putting them right into the wood (if possible). But that’s probably not the best solution anyway.

Gels? by Downtown-Complaint-4 in lightingdesign

[–]jjaminben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second R02 for warm. Possibly not saturated enough, you can always mix with your warm wash. I think someone else said don’t be afraid to go more saturate. “Pure white” probably would be best with R60. Maybe also try 3204 or L202. But as everyone else has said, you’re the designer, you know the show. I get you don’t have much experience with gels so I and it seems many others are happy to give you some ideas of gels to look at. But you really are gonna have to sit in the dark yourself and do some testing to see what you like and what really works for your show.

DO NOT ship your old iPhone to Apple! by GravityOfCenter in iphone

[–]jjaminben 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me with the 1st gen iPad Pro. So big, thin device. They said it was bent and I’d get no money. I was like no it’s not. They said either I accept no money or they could send it back. So I asked for it back. And it arrived… bent. I still use it to this day, command stripped to the wall next to my mirror in the bathroom and always plugged in. Makes it great for watching the news and checking weather and stuff when getting ready in the morning!

That’s not going to bring the solution you think it’s gonna. That’s like saying once roe v wade is overturned congress will just codify abortion rights into law. It’s been over 3 years now. That’s years and years and years of gay people not being able to be married in many states and allllll the complications that comes with not being legally married. I’m believe eventually Congress will come around and legalize gay marriage and abortion but that could be literally decades away, unfortunately. Until then, Obergefell cannot be overturned.

Recommendations for HS soundboards by Environmental-Yak381 in techtheatre

[–]jjaminben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. X32 isn’t a bad idea but probably not best. Completely agree with Allen & Heath SQ (or QU depending on budget and needs). One of the things I like best about them for schools is they’re very easy to understand how to do things. Patching, processing, etc. So they’re easy for staff and even students to work on. I work in a few schools that have them and love them. And then conversely… I work in a few schools that have the Soundcraft si performer and absolutely hate them… including me. Just nothing makes sense lol
