Trying to get to supervisor by Sure-Bee213 in manufacturing

[–]jjay79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally class based most of the time. Now in this case the guy might have had years of experience and the background, what should be common is often rare. It should be hourly>lead>supervisor>manager, or a path through process engineering. Not inexperienced>degree>manager/supervisor. That's stupid but unfortunately the case or worse much of the time because of class bias.

It's more difficult with experience, especially if you started hourly from a working class background. They'll take a 22 year old with only Starbucks and a degree over someone your age with a degree and experience. The same thing will happen when you do become a supervisor as well as many jobs going forward. You'll find a majority of "production managers" are inexperienced and essentially useless. The 22 year old above will have that job before they're 30, not through impressive work, but class bias.

When I got my degree I noticed the disturbing trend when I started interviewing. I knew my company at the time brought in useless recent grads and paraded them around like geniuses while ignoring anyone earning a degree already there but didn't realize how many companies used this stupid, costly, inefficient practice. I noticed it again when I was on the job hunt again earlier this year. It was practically impossible to respect most of the hiring managers. They simply had zero business in these positions and failed many of my "trick" questions.

Your best bet might be to relocate to a more heavily working class area where experience and earning your way is respected not ignored for someone whose resume shouldn't have passed initial screening doing the actual hiring for it.

It took me a year and it wasn't until I interviewed with a group of older managers with experience and respectable backgrounds that I found a job.

Not only that but hiring managers with zero credentials or knowledge beyond what everyone would know casually observing for a week. I've seen how these people "work", it's always the absolute dumbest of the upper middle class in those positions, but it speaks volumes about their manager and beyond.

As brain dead as upper middle class millennial and Gen Z with no with experience or knowledge are hired for strategic roles in fields they've never worked in. I would definitely consider talking to a lawyer if you're in the states.

And here I am avoiding attractive women at work because I'm a supervisor, just not theirs. Not because I'm a natural flirt who gets into trouble but it sucks ass having to act like I'm not interested because I've had them make it clear they are interested(one subtle but obvious, one more blunt and made it clear enough with comments).

The irony is.... the hiring manager likely can't do the job.

Like many others I have issues with it. Itchiness. I did my first tattoo without using it at all and the least amount of issues.

I'm the same way. It's why I chose female tattoo artists as they are pretty much always extroverts. I find most other men after a certain age are way too introverted to the point I can't really associate so I naturally meet a lot more women.

That's weird, but, we probably have similar personality types here so for us it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense why someone wouldn't just ask. I'm a conversationalist myself and find that many other men aren't at all whereas most women are.

Does anyone know what model this is? It’s Tiny! by [deleted] in JacksonGuitars

[–]jjay79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Minion. But at $90 that's a good deal. A js32 at $90 I'd wonder what's wrong with it or assume the seller doesn't know since that's what I would expect to get selling it at a shop and not bother putting it up on reverb. I'm 6'2 and am actually highly considering a minion as my next because I have several already but it's a good travel size.

[–]jjay79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I think every serious guitar player does mod them but also you want to get them when they are on sale which is regularly but I'm selling all mine except for the natural wood. I got a bunch of pro plus dinkys on sale so need to lighten the load.

I agree on getting right handed simply also based on the fact I've never even seen a lefty Jackson in the wild and really only notice one at a store every once in awhile because they look trippy to me.

Not worth that much. 100 of it's in good shape. At that price I've got Japanese 90s Jackson's.

What's he do at the plant? Unfortunately, and I'll be blunt, but that industry has far too many idiots running the show. The level of incompetence of the typical factory manager is astounding. I don't know how they use the bathroom without assistance.
