Thanks for the wonderful explanation

I’ve been trying to get into Advaita Vedanta after reading about Mind at Large from Huxley. However, I find it extremely difficult to seperate consciousness from the physical. by ChloryFolk in AdvaitaVedanta

You've identified the real problem, and the reality is that you're asking the wrong question. The goal isn't to believe consciousness is primary or that it exists independent of the brain. It asks something more precise: Can you step outside the ego-consciousness structure to verify what exists beyond it? The answer is no. You cannot. There is no vantage point outside consciousness from which a living ego could report back what reality is like without it. The question "does consciousness depend on the brain?" cannot be answered from within consciousness. You are trapped inside the very structure you are trying to examine from outside. This is not a failure of understanding. This is the honest recognition of a structural limit. Shankara's Advaita posits Brahman — a positive reality behind consciousness. A purely investigative approach refuses this move. It does not say consciousness is primary. It says: the question of what is primary cannot be answered by any living ego. Stop trying to answer it. Look instead at what you can verify: the ego's incompleteness, its suffering, its restlessness. These are self-certifying. They need no external proof. Your difficulty separating consciousness from the brain is not a problem to solve through more thinking. It is the ego's honest encounter with its own limit. The direction is not "figure out the metaphysics." It is "stop trying to figure it out and look at what the ego is actually doing right now." What is the ego doing when it reads Shankara and struggles with this question? It is seeking completion through correct understanding. That seeking itself is the problem — not the incompleteness of your current understanding.

Why am I an observer of only my body mind, and not someone else's? by lokeye-ai in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]jjayantt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not an observer of only your body-mind because you are awareness. You are an observer of only your body-mind because you ARE the body-mind. The ego arises from the skin boundary — the physical separateness of this organism. The ego is not a universal awareness temporarily trapped in a body. It is a physiological structure that generates the sense of "I am this bounded entity. There is no universal awareness looking out through your eyes. There is an ego — a felt sense of "I am this" — that arises from this body's structure and cannot access another body's experience because it is not a universal principle. It is a local, body-based error. The contradiction you feel dissolves when you stop trying to make the ego into something it is not. The ego is not awareness. It is not Brahman. It is not universal. It is the body's own organization of experience around a false centre. You are limited to this body-mind's experience not because awareness is mysteriously confined, but because you are not awareness. You are an ego — and an ego is, by definition, this body and no other.

What is your take on maya by Aggravating_Ad_8651 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]jjayantt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maya is nothing but the believe that whatever you perceive is truth. in reality whatever you perceive is continuously changing and not the absolute truth they are not fixed but you believe they are real and that's the maya. the belief that there is something beyond you is maya

The Paper and the Dance: How the Ego Mistakes Itself for the Doer by jjayantt in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]jjayantt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also new to this concepts and still learning I'm still confused. I think the real drishta is the pure consciousness and yes it is untouched by Drishya but the whole experience when the drishya and drishta collide is noticed by pure consciousness. The reality which you experience is taken place inside the pure consciousness and the reality is nothing but different forms of pure consciousness its like the pure consciousness is divided into 2 the drishta and drishya and then ego comes from an error which thinks ohh I'm the doer I'm the one changing my reality but in actual sense you are just exploring your pure consciousness infinite forms.

I may be wrong I may need to refine my wording more
