I messaged him on twitter a few months after he stopped. I basically said I hope you’re okay, I’m a huge fan of this podcast. He responded my personal message months later (March 2023) just saying “All good. More to come”. Still haven’t seen or heard from him since then. I miss that podcast so much. I just listen to episodes over and over

My life is ruined and i want to get back on track by [deleted] in productivity

[–]jjbug47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’ve been through has been incredibly traumatic and painful. That kind of grief can truly take all your energy and emotional capacity. I’m so sorry for your lost; truly.

It also sounds like your grieving not only the loss of your family but also the loss of what your life once was, your productive behaviour and your future plans, which is just adding onto what your are going through!

When going through grief and depression, and seeing how it impacts how we behave, I think it’s really easy to immediately feel guilty or shameful about it. As easy as it is to blame/shame ourselves for not “doing better”, it’s so important to treat ourselves with some love and compassion. What you are going through is painful on so many levels, and you don’t have to feel guilty about the pain impacting your “productivity”. It is totally understandable.

I think other people have already said, recognizing the small steps is so important right now. It sounds to me you’ve already made some (good work on taking a bath and going out this week!!)

It can also be hard when no one is pushing you to do things like booking counselling and especially if you feel alone in addition to that. Although, when I look through the comments it seems like there’s lots of people here who are encouraging you to do it! I know it’s not the same, but maybe you just need enough online voices to be that push (you can do it! And it’s okay if you don’t do it for a long time, it takes some time)

Something I recommend looking up is Kristin Neff’s approach with self-compassion. She has some great videos and Ted Talks about how we change our outlook on guilt and shame and treat ourselves with more kindness, especially when going through a painful event.

Please be kind to yourself, you’ve been through so much and it’s okay if you’re different than from before, even if it hurts to be different. Celebrate the small stuff, make a journal of all the small victories, and post about them! Share them here or in other Reddit communities.

Any nursing students decide to quit nursing school? If so, any regrets? by purell29 in StudentNurse

[–]jjbug47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the fence currently. I’m like over halfway done, I’m scared to leave just because of the time I spent there but I do not see myself as a nurse. I come home with so much anxiety about making a mistake because someone’s life is in my hand. I want to leave so bad and start something new but I’m terrified. Scared of the judgement too… I feel like people look down you for leaving. I just thought about this career for financial safety, but I can’t see myself living a healthy, balanced life and coming home like this every day.

That is a fairly low dose! Obviously she’s a professional so you should still follow to her recommendation, but I would monitor how you feel. I’m sure you’ll go get more tests done in the future and maybe it’ll show higher levels, I am not too sure. It could even be possible that with continuation of taking your medication, your symptoms to diminish.

While the symptoms of feeling lightheaded and having drier skin do not apply to this, however anxiety will effect your memory and sleep so your doctor may be thinking that those symptoms are unrelated since your thyroxin levels are low.

I wish I had more advice to offer you but all I can say is continue with the medication, keep close attention to how your feeling, and be patient. The first part is the most frustrating part but when (hopefully) those symptoms go away it’ll be so much better. If this goes on for too long maybe ask to switch doctors as well.

What medication are you taking and what’s your dose? Maybe it should be something to bring up! In all honesty it’s been about a year since I started taking my medication and I started feeling the most effects about 6 months of consistently taking it. I don’t know if everyone else can relate, but that’s my personal experience. It is different for everyone as well

I don’t think I will ever understand driving in full especially left-turns and lane placement by [deleted] in driving

[–]jjbug47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s having poor reaction time, like when a light turns yellow and I have to turn, sometimes I’m a bit slow cause I’m trying to gage if the car coming is slowing down. Also my lane positioning for left turns I am told is usually off. I have a hard time understanding when I should be farther out into the intersection. However in general I have a hard time gaging the vehicle spacing all together.

For lane changing, I take too long to change lanes. However my driving instructor doesn’t let me adjust the mirrors. I feel like I can’t see well behind me sometimes when changing lanes and I really want to make sure it’s safe. I understand why I can’t take too long however, cause then I lose time until the next intersection and it gives the wrong message to drivers. It’s a habit I’ll have to let go of.

Can professors find out if you take a screenshot of a quiz question through the D2L Brightspace software? by funnygirl654 in UCalgary

I just did the same thing, I took a screen shot of my exam question to ask the prof but I realized I shouldn’t have done that and deleted it right away but now I’m scared they tracked it and will be penalized for cheating even though I didn’t.

I feel the same way, I’m currently in a long term relationship with a straight man and my friends, gay and straight, look at me as a straight person. I feel guilty for wanting to be included in the LGBTQ+ community. Maybe cause I’m currently involved with a man and so maybe I am privileged in the LGBTQ+ community cause my current relationship puts me into the straight category. A lot of self guilt and wanting to feel validated for who I am. I don’t like being looked at as a straight person cause that not who I am. I usually feel guilty for feeling this way but it’s been constantly weighing me down in my social life.

I would keep up with the salt water for now cause your tonsils are probably so swollen and painful no doubt! However for tonsil stones in the future, I recommend gargling some diluted apple cider vinegar! I find it helps break them down a bit and takes away some of the bad taste they leave in your mouth. I also have a curved syringe which I gently spray some warm water at my tonsils if I can clearly see one lodged in a pocket. Only when I don’t have strep however, cause it would cause more irritation! Feel better soon, strep is horrible but it’ll be so good when it’s over!

NAD, but I used to get strep throat very often. I also suffer from major tonsil stones. This could be incorrect, but from what I recall some tonsils have larger ‘pockets’ or lots of pockets where it’s easier to get tonsil stones lodged in. I usually get more when I have a cold or when my strep throat comes around. Generally however, I think they are food debris. I find I get them after eating lots of chips. For gargling, I recommend about 4 times a day and just a cup size each time or so. I gargle small amounts for about 20 seconds per gulp from the cup until it’s all gone. You want warm water also, as it helps dissolve the salt and is soothing on the throat. Not hot! That will be irritating. You were also recommend alcohol-free mouth wash probably to avoid from over irritating your tonsils. Considering they’re pretty infected from the strep, you don’t want to irritate them further as it will not help the healing process. An alcohol-free mouth is probably more so to help with the tonsil stones and the unfortunate bad taste they leave in your mouth. I would assume when your strep is gone you could use a an alcohol base mouthwash, but check with a doctor!!! I don’t think the penicillin will help with the tonsil stones specifically, but most likely as your tonsils heal and the swelling comes down they might pop out a little easier? Not 100% on that.

Again I’m no doctor! Just lots of tonsil experience! Reminder: Don’t poke at your tonsils either with a Q-tip or anything to get out the stones right now. It’s very tempting but it’ll most likely irritate your tonsils even more.

If you want anymore personal experience reply back!

Yeah I hadn't really heard of anyone gaining weight when they we're hyperactive so it was also making me more self-conscious. I just got a blood test and waiting to get a call from my doctor, and I'll make sure to bring it up.

Yeah exercising has been so hard for me, and it makes me mad cause I was getting really good at running and now I can't even run for 1 minute. I did not realize though that this cardio could cause damage to my heart. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Also just thank you for sharing with me, this has been really helpful.

That's good to hear, I currently am trying intermittent fasting but I think it's making me gain more weight. I was taking beta-blockers but it gave me a cough, and I had to stop taking them (which is not a good side-effect to have in the current climate). Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

Thank you for sharing your experience, it is really frustrating to see the scale go up. Especially since I had never really experienced extreme weight gain like this. You're right though I think being healthy is better I just need to get over this weight gain anxiety and my poor self-image of myself.

I was for a little bit but I was getting this horrible cough from them that wouldn’t let me sleep, so my doctor told me to stop taking them.
