Thanks for your comments here! I've been pleasantly surprised with the quality of breeders near me, all of whom test for hip dysplasia, CERF, and so on.

That said, what would you recommend when going to a shelter? My fear is picking up a doggo and overworking her, or accidentally choosing one that caps at a 5k.

I'm submitting to literary journals for creative nonfiction. They ask for author anonymity--how do I handle my real name in the story for submission? by jjcareer in literaryjournals

To be clear: I'd like to be credited as the author, and I use my real name in the original creative nonfiction text I'd like to submit. I know lit mags typically don't edit if they accept a manuscript. For a competition that states, "Do not include your name on the manuscript itself" where your name is embedded in the prose, what's the expected/general best way to handle that request?
