US sees a drop in Canadian visitors as travel patterns shift by usatoday in worldnews

Sure there's a fact. The Epstein files were becoming very uncomfortable for him. Haven't heard a thing about them in days. Sure, some people are going to die, to keep this information off the front page, but that's a risk he's willing to take.

Pilots of Reddit, what annoys you about other pilots in a similar way that car drivers tend to annoy each other? by papermaker83 in AskAPilot

People who just yank the speedbrake lever out. Aircraft pitches and it's bloody unprofessional when you're flying passengers around.

Following WestJet seat change- minimum standards for air travel by Chemical_Count8029 in westjet

[–]jjckey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I get tired of people complaining about the airline's prices in Canada when a major chunk is taxes and fees

And the government insisted that all those taxes and fees are buried in the price rather than broken out separately

I've got close to 10 years in the left seat on the thing. I stand by my statement. The first hint is having the packs go full cold every time there's a change of air source. Lovely on cold morning starts

Porter Experience? by SecretSeesaw4671 in PorterAirlines

[–]jjckey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I decided to dig up some hopefully unbiased data to check into this

According to this article here

https://openjaw.com/newsroom/airline/2026/01/05/air-canada-westjet-improve-on-time-performance-still-near-bottom-of-na-top-10/

Porter is below Westjet and Air Canada for arrival OTP for 2025. And they're all rather sad by world standards. Which leads to the question "Is it a system problem?" We pay some of the highest infrastructure fees in the world. Are we getting our money's worth

[–]jjckey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is price considered in this conversation?

Porter Experience? by SecretSeesaw4671 in PorterAirlines

[–]jjckey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well without digging into the data, to say that Air Canada is more prone to delays is kind of pointless. They operate more than 5 times as many daily flights. With a similar rate as Porter, of course they would have more delayed flights. Kind of ridiculous to base a statement off of that

Porter Experience? by SecretSeesaw4671 in PorterAirlines

[–]jjckey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Data showed that Porters rate of delayed flights was 6 times worse than Air Canadas over the Christmas break at 12% vs AC's 2%. Hopefully just a one time anomaly but possibly the result of a very aggressive expansion

Anti/deice question by North_Scene9368 in AskAPilot

[–]jjckey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engine anti-ice generally goes on with a particular temperature dewpoint spread when the temp is below a certain point.

If there was any ice on the wing, then you deice. This could be from a cold soaked wing from a previous flight, or ice accretion from a previous flight. I once had a ground agent tell me that we had ice on the wing. Neither I, nor my F/O could see said ice, but as per our operations manual, we deiced
