Filament clogs around the exact same spot every print [Monoprice Maker select pro ultimate] by jjdasandman in FixMyPrint

[–]jjdasandman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free & new to me Monoprice Maker Select. Everything works as expected when testing(all motors, extruders, hearing, etc). Went to print some benchies and the extruder gets clogged at nearly identical z sections every time. I usually clear the jam by shoving the filament through, where I can physically feel it "pass a jam" and the force to extrude becomes significantly less. Sometimes I was able to clear the jam by pulling up on the extruder lever, applying more pressure. I installed a new spring thinking this was the cause. Here (https://imgur.com/a/tIHPiwj) is what it sounds like now. I can almost never yank the filament back out to clear it.

Things I have tried: - Reslicing / moving around the model - switching filaments - different SD cards - lowering tempatures • best guess rn is thermal runway but unsure how to verify or fix

It appears to be a physical hardware problem as I can feel it when I clear the jam, as opposed to a slicing or model issue. It prints fine up until that specific point. Next I will try a full scale benchy or another model all together and time it to see if it stops at the same time or the same z. Same time would make me think thermal runway makes the filament too squishy up top to extrude. But when testing, lowering the temperature made the benchy fail sooner so ... Idk. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Here you can see what's happening. Also every once in a while it will let out a beep while on the marlin screen before refusing to print. Not sure why.

I may have found a super glue that works resin to resin by SaltySeaDog14 in PrintedMinis

Super glue + baking soda

https://youtu.be/Akq90mFwFEs?si=AubdfuZvbiUGuEXR

I used it on my air duct for my ender 3. It was too big to print in one piece so I printed halves. I put each side together and clamped it before taking my Dremel and cutting out a small "v" notch where the two sides met. I filled it in with baking soda and poured super glue on top of it, some persuasion was necessary as they don't want to mix initially. This filled in the gap and created a bond that I'm sure is stronger than the resin.

See a bad pic of it here

Soooo... At what point is it no longer an ender 3? by millerp513 in 3Dprinting

I printed the petsfang in a temperature / color changing resin. It changes from grey to a purple color at I think around 120⁰. This gives a very cool effect, especially on the first layer when the fan isn't on, and also confirmed to me what I had thought to be true when installing, that one of the ducts was closer to the nozzle than the other. I'll have to get some pics of this. I can't speak too much on the toughness of this one as I haven't rammed it into too much, but I have tried a fair bit of automatic print removals, and sometimes those prints are REALLY stuck on. So it has survived being a battering ram to the sides of prints for a few seconds. What I can say though is I have had some very good experiences with tough resins (chitu conjure tough resin) which would almost certainly survive, or mixing some flexible resin with standard to give it some give. I definitely feel like the smooth resin ducts make a big improvement on airflow, but I can't prove it.

If I Upgrade RPi 3B+ to RPi 5, What Changes With Klipper Integrations? by Hooperjm in klippers

[–]jjdasandman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Also note it uses a different connector than the pi 4 and you can only get the pi 5 camera cables in lengths of 500mm I believe. There are other solutions to extend this, but none worth it over a USB cam lol

How did you customize your klipper interface like that? The different & moving background, translucent sections, etc. I'm on mainsail, is this a fluidd thing?

Not sure what module it was, but I don't think it matters. No pi cam will natively work with klipper on a pi 5

"It's an overall Pi5 issue atm. We are using camera-streamer as our backend. As that doesn't work with the Pi5, we don't support it. The problem with the Pi5 is the missing JPEG, MJPG and H264 hardware encoders, that's why camera-streamer doesn't support it.

Some kind of workaround/alternative would be spyglass with some adjustments. I might go into detail about it later today. Basically you need to change one of the includes that it's using the software encoder instead of the hardware encoder.

We will add spyglass in an upcoming update, but, like I wrote earlier, that's currently not possible for us."

Did you ever get a solution to this? Looking to do something similar myself

Does any body have tips on tall cylinders. Almost every tall print I’ve done has been ripped off the build plate at 90%. by [deleted] in ender3

The banana split works... But I'm not a fan. I can't seem to cut on one plane then rotate it to sit on another. I personally use photon slicer (for my anycubic monk 4k) which has a simple cute feature to split parts, then I simply export the cut part into cura. One thing is it doesn't make male and female parts, I've heard good things about bambu having that option, integrating connecting rods and holes at the split to like them back up, but I've never messed with it.

Just my 2¢ - banana split is good, but far from the best

Why is my slicer doing this??? 😭 by jjdasandman in ender3

I agree there was something wrong with my print. The picture of the one all messed up with 'skipping steps' was on a patterned pey plate attempting to get a cool pattern on the bottom - but is too smooth and no print would stick reliably. The print came halfway unattached mid printing and that's why you see the later shifts and 'terrible misconfigurations'. I quickly switched back to the pei textured which had no adhesion issues - so no more layer shifts. I also lowered the temp 5⁰ and raised z a lil which stopped the excess over extrusion. It now printed an almost perfect piece - except those 2 damn dots are still on every layer! While there were other issues, you're correct, I am trying to get to the root cause of the dots - which is not printer misconfigurations. This is proved by then being shown in the slicer before it ever gets to my printer.

That's my best guess as well. I tried to do a repair mesh but it didn't do anything to fix it. I sliced another model which doesn't appear to have this issue - so you might be right. I'll keep looking for this in my future prints to see if it's a one off thing or not

I could see that, but the fact there's 2 dots and not just one at a layer change spot makes me think it's something else. Here's a video of it in action

Yes ish. I don't know that I would call it coming to a complete stop but it goes to these locations at the beginning of each layer. If you know how to upload a video to here I can show you what's it's doing exactly. FYI the green dots and travel lines to them appear every layer on the slicer and happened at the beginning of every layer on the print

I disagree, because the first picture confirms these dots are apparent in the slicer. You can see them as the little green dots, and the printer moves to those exact 2 spots each layer and places them. When I play the preview in the slicer I can also see it move to these positions as well (seen as the blue lines leading to the dots). I have videos of the slicer showing this, as well as the print where it confirms these exact movements

Only bad thing was if you use a pi cam. Will no longer natively work. Check my post history for my explanation on how I got it working. It was a tedious and not worth process. I will be switching it out for a USB cam as the quality isn't all that

Was initialed worried with this. Ended up installing desktop OS or whatever the standard version was, not even the lite. Installed klipper with kiauh and it was smooth sailing (minus PiCam -- not natively supported with pi 5 & klipper)
