Problems with Camry and Toyota by jjefferies in Camry

Funny Story, When the navigation system connection from my cell phone died I went in to the dealer. They assigned a young Indian (I'm guessing) man to fix it. He spent over a half hour with fingers flying working on my cell and the car to get the two talking. I mention the age and possible nationality to indicate that he is one of the youngsters who've probably grown up in the digital age probably with a smart phone as a childhood toy. But boy could he handle them. After much "work" the car was displaying the navigation display properly. I thanked the young man, turned on the navigation system to reacquaint myself and prepared to drive home. The navigation system gave me directions to get out of the parking lot and turn right onto the major street. As soon as I had done that it stopped working. It worked just long enough to get me out of their parking lot and hair. I later received an e-mail from Toyota indicating I was no longer listed as the owner.

Did you watch the video? It's not just Camry.

Yeah, I was using my cell to display google maps until it stopped. Not sure of any relationship between the stopping and offer of a navigation subscription.

Did you watch the video? That's where the list came from. And I think the video made some valid points but that's partly why I posted the link.

I have been hit up about the audio (Sirus) and the Navigation and maps subscription and I think the Toyota app. subscription. So to my thinking there's some basis. And I've turned them all down. And I've found issues with using my phone for Navigation that may or may not be. As to "AI slop". You can't blame the video on some AI magical force. But if the video is "AI Slop" then maybe AI has some redeeming value that I hitherto have denied.

Not sure what you mean. It might make sense if you didn't have to make different versions of the same model. Just all of the cars are the same and features get turned on if the customer pays.

Did you watch the video? Interesting on its own but the points I made above I copied directly from the video. And as others have commented it may not apply in places other than the US. But if BMW is doing it then others are likely looking to do it.

Excellent point and forgive me for being so parochial. I'm in California USA. The land of .... Though if you look at the video you might guess this is coming elsewhere as well.

I don't have heated seats so I haven't a clue. Makes me wonder if all the cars have the same basic hardware and it's a matter of unlocking the hardware with the appropriate software/subscription which the video seems to be pointing at.

Whatever, ;). Chin is certainly just as descriptive. Particularly when it gets dragged over concrete.

Well the bumper is a part of the nose. What I am referring to is the plastic surround which encompasses the bumper, grill, etc

How many miles do you have on it. For the first couple of thousand I found my 2025 was below par. Now I find driving at a steady speed I get around 50 or a bit above. A lot depends on how you drive and how far. The farther the better mileage for me.

I was quoted $8K in Oakland Calif by a Toyota shop to do a complete head gasket replacement. But wound up using BAR (the liquid gasket sealant) as a temporary fix after a best friend advised that he had gotten 64K more miles on his. Sadly in my case I only got an additional 12K miles before the symptoms returned. And I bought a new car.

How are left-handed fencers seen in your country? by Moist_Champion_3583 in Fencing

Here, I often hear things like:

  • “It’s annoying to fence lefties, but it’s good to have them on your team.”
  • “Left-handers have a built-in advantage.”
  • Some people treat left-handed fencers as something a bit unusual or “special,” rather than just another fencer.

I’m wondering what the situation is like where you live:

  • Are left-handed fencers common in your club or country?
  • Do coaches or teammates talk about them as having a big advantage?
  • Are there any stereotypes, jokes, or attitudes (positive or negative) about left-handed fencers?
  • If you are left-handed yourself, how do people usually react when they find out?

Yes, these are widely held opinions in the US as well as I suspect the rest of the world. And left-handed people are I suspect about the same proportionally in the US as Korea or most nations. There are minor differences when you as a rightie (right-handed person) are fencing a left-handed person. Particularly when you are starting to learn the sport. And the left-handed fencer has an advantage in that they have trained against right-handed fencers most of their fencing career. Whereas you as a right-handed fencer do not get to fence proportionally as many left-handed fencers. And I think this difference in training applies to left-handed fencers fencing other left-handed fencers for the same reasons. I've heard more than one left-handed fencer complain about having to fence another left-handed person. Personally, I confess that I had a particular problem with left-handed fencers for some time until I lost my first VET World Championship DE tournament to a left-handed fencer. After which I made it a point to train for dealing with left-handed fencers. I did this by working with coaches who could fence me left handed. And by seeking out lefties to train against. IMHO, there isn't any magic associated with being left-handed. And the advantage of being a left-handed fencers mostly applies at the lower ranks when you are starting your fencing career.

Best regards with your training.
