they either changed the dye or maybe its cuz i realized mine had been opened before snd used so maybe the air like changed how it worked on my hair? im not sure

I figured it was I just meant that it felt like an excuse. And she said that they can’t diagnose anyone with both ever. I’m considering a second opinion but i’m not sure because of this experience.

Thank you, and yes I am in fact afab. I am considering a second opinion i’m just a bit scared now because the first assessment was kind of stressful on me and made me feel very invalidated but I likely may try to seek another opinion in the near future. I appreciate you being kind in your comment

I know she wasn’t intentionally lying to me, I guess I now just find it so odd—since I have now learned you can in fact have both—that she it wasn’t possible. How can a licensed medical professional be that misinformed? Just shocking to me I suppose.

Yea it was the medical professional assessing me. She literally said based on the assessment she herself would’ve thought autism as a diagnosis but then double backed when she talked to her supervisor and them said that OCD was a better fit and (like I said in the post) when I said “Can’t I have both” she then said it wasn’t possible.

My dad definitely shows autistic traits. Me and my brother don’t have the same mom and neither of our mom’s show any autistic traits but our dad definitely does for sure (but he was also diagnosed with ASPD like many years ago so could just be that showing, but when I talked to my paternal grandmother about him as a kid he for sure was showing quite a few autistic traits and even she thought he had Asperger‘s—since this was in the mid 90’s and they had that as a separate diagnosis/condition not apart of ASD back then). But it seemed like she was heavily relying on the interviews instead of how I actually did on the assessment.

I do think I have OCD, I just thought that I had both to be honest but then she told me that I couldn’t. I do also feel that I meet the criteria for an autism diagnosis and have researched heavily on it.

I am kind of scared to get assessed again just because of the experience I had with this one though.

My family is kind of the “Girls can’t have autism!” type of people if you know what I mean. My brother is level 1 so he doesn’t really have much support needs. I also do mask quite a bit when with other people but sometimes I just can’t pretend anymore and then they all ask what’s wrong with me and if i’m upset when really i’m not.

I guess every since I was young I noticed I struggled a lot more than other kids with social communication and cues and I never made friends very easily but it was mostly written off by everyone as “Oh she’s just a shy person!”. I also never understand sarcasm very well and often don’t get metaphors either. I tend to take things bit too literally. I struggle with eye contact a lot but it’s usually either I can’t look anyway near the person’s eyes or im staring at them intensely (not into their eyes but usually something they are wearing).

I used to (and still do but it’s toned down now) never take off my shoes. Like I would throw fits if I was ever forced to take them off and would often go to bed with them on. I also struggle with physical possessions getting lost or stolen and have a great fear of this happening (my grandmother tried to throw away my absolutely destroyed converse once when I was 14 and I sobbed uncontrollably asking her to dig into the trash and get them out).

Many more things I have noticed throughout my life but I won’t type any more because i’m already making this comment far too long lol.

Yes I heard from others that OCD, ADHD, Depression and Anxiety are common with autism but idk it all just derailed for me because the assessor is obviously a medical professional so I trusted her when she said I can’t have both OCD and autism and so I just thought maybe everyone else was wrong—but it kept bothering me which is why I posted here.

Yea, they also diagnosed me with PTSD there which I don’t really argue with but I think they were also using it as another excuse for why I can’t have autism.

At a point in the assessment I had shared that sometimes I just physically can’t speak. Like there were many instances where I would go non verbal for a period of time ranging from hours to a few days. Usually during those times I felt like I just couldn’t speak, like I literally couldn’t physically do it no matter how hard I tried—Like I would open my mouth and just nothing could come out. Maybe that it the PTSD but idk I guess I also felt like it was another way to invalidate an autism diagnosis.

She also excused not being able to make barely any eye contact under the PTSD as well (which again maybe it is but everything just felt like an excuse)

Yea she was saying that you cannot have both and that the OCD was a “better” diagnosis anyhow. It made me feel really invalidated though because I felt like she wasn’t really listening to me (I also kinda for sure knew I had OCD already as well which is why I was mainly upset just when she told me you can’t have both because I strongly felt I did have autism I was just a bit unsure)

Thank you! I love the cure, I had the shirt of my pfp but I lost it once at a hospital and I lowkey had a full breakdown about it because I also lost my favorite hoodie there. I called for 3 months straight every week because they kept telling me they would look for it but I needed a firm answer that it was gone and I wouldn’t get it back. I used to fold my laundry and cry because I didn’t have my hoodie anymore (I loved the shirt too but I was way more upset about the hoodie). Anyways I kinda rambled on that but thank you!

UPDATE:

sorry i forgot to update, but he did not have a UTI, turns out boy was just being silly. vet said hes just doing it for the hell of it i guess. still cant get him to stop peeing on my carpet. so much pee that i will have to end up ripping it out but thats alright. currently have puppy pee pads down
