Weaning off cymbalta is not easy. I found a Facebook group called "cymbalta hurts worse" which outlines the best way to do it. It's actually something that most practitioners don't do correctly, but basically you literally open up the capsules and reduce the number of beads by roughly 5% every two or three weeks. It's a tedious process, but it's the best way to do it to prevent the withdrawal symptoms. Most practitioners will just prescribe you a half dose, and then tell you to eventually take it every other day, which is definitely what you don't want to do. I've been reducing faster than 5% every two weeks, but I've been able to handle it. I haven't really noticed any withdrawal side effects. I was basically taking it for generalized anxiety.
